To begin, there are two main categories of stressors that an individual can experience. First, are chronic stressors, which are demanding or threatening events that occur for an extended amount of time. On the other hand, acute stressors are brief demanding or threatening events that may continue to be experienced as overwhelming even after the event is over. There are many different types of events that can be considered as stressors. For example, some stressors are traumatic events, life changes, or the build up of daily hassles. Everyone experiences stressors, but not everyone reacts to these stressors in the same way.
One stressor that I have experienced recently, was my mom getting remarried and moving to Michigan. To summarize, I drove to Michigan with my new family and stayed for three weeks, I then flew back to Arizona. Also, these events took place within two to three months. I was very close with my mom, but I decided to stay in Arizona with my dad because of my school and scholarship. When I got back from Michigan, I experienced great depression, or major depression disorder. For a while, I noticed a lack of energy, I had little motivation to get things done, and I wasn’t eating as much as usual. These symptoms had negative effects on my schooling and assignments. Before the wedding and move, I obtained a weird “rash” that the doctor said could be shingles. The rash burned and stung all down my face, back, and legs, but there was nothing on my skin to show it was a rash. Although we don’t know what exactly it was from, my doctor and I came to the conclusion that it could be from stress. All in all, those are a few emotional and physiological responses that I experienced from this particular
