A colon is often used to separate the subject of a headline from what is said about it (Swan: 2005, 212).

3. Question Mark (?)
A question mark is often used when something is not certain (Swan, 2005: 212).
e.g. Next, VAT on Babyfood? (Swan, 2005: 221)

Since online version news is based on the printed newspaper, the news content is presented as short as possible without lessen the information because newspaper only has limited space. This tendency is that economy in words is applied for the purpose of efficiency (Gorrell and Laird, 1965). Even the Standard English is better when used efficiently. People can usually make themselves understood communication in few words if necessary. However, when the communication is complicated it needs more than few words, but the fewer the better. The omission of information that is already obvious from the proceeding context is illustrating the word
in the excerpt from i am legend a novel by Richard Matheson, Matheson uses rhetorical devices to emphasize the frightening and hostile atmosphere. In lines 1-5 Matheson uses similies and various forms of imagery to describe the situation Robert Neville is in. In the first sentence the author describes the man's throat "the man's throat moving like clammy turkey skin. " The author compares clammy turkey skin with his throat to emphasize how unappealing he looked.
Unlike Bitzer, who considers the situation as the primary factor which produces a rhetorical discourse; Vatz, implies that rhetorical discourse creates the situation. (He believes that “the meaning is not discovered in situations, but created by rhetors.”) And he regards the rhetor as the most important one who make choices and constructs rhetorical meanings. In explaining the importance of rhetor, He writes that there are two main steps in “communicating situations”: the first is the selections on events for communicating; the second is the translation or our own understanding of the selected

This sentence style shows the author’s thinking process at the moment, rather than tells a story. Besides fragmented sentences, sections are also unchronological and seem irrelative to each other, attracting readers to read
Finally I tried to use complex structures like one might see in as higher level publication such as Jet set with sentences like “money and social position are good opportunities we have for happiness” and “they have to show to the rest of the world their power and perfection” . Using these elements I feel I reached my purpose set out in the task. This task addresses the theme of Happiness, money and social position . For this task I chose monthly magazine because I felt that in this
Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell is a story is set in the future, in a world where corporations rule at the expense of individuals. Clones, called fabricants, were created as a type of servants for the upperclass. The fabricants are not suppose to be able to have a personality. The process of this displays ethos. Other people like Elaine Brooks and Matt Richtel give their opinions on the difference between nature in the present and past as well. Louv uses quotation marks to exhibit what others opinions are giving credit to the person who originally said it.

If we conduct businesses and we fail to make them understand or fail to make any appropriate adjustments, we might unwillingly offend them without noticing it. In Japan, communication can be very complex. Spoken words can have many different meanings; that why both non-verbal and verbal communication is very important for us. Non-verbal communication is important it is because it can be interpreted in many different ways.
There are many barriers to communication and these may occur at any stage in the communication process. Barriers can cause confusion and misunderstanding which has the risk of wasting time and money. Effective communication involves overcoming these barriers and conveying a clear and concise message.
This clearly specifies that communication depends upon content and relationship. • Also, in many scenes the protagonist used non verbal messages such as writing HELP on the beach and creation fires to signal ships and boats. This showcases that interpersonal communication can be both verbal and non-verbal in
Tabloidization is the change in the format of newspaper into the tabloid form and enhanced focus on entertainment and celebrities deviating from the serious issues. Media is the imperative as well the integral element of polity and the fourth estate of the democracy. The present trend of media is more of a show than a medium of delivering the news. Media has taken to gossips, sex and sensationalization which distracts the attention of the people from the real issues around the world. Glamour is now a regular dosage in the everyday newspaper, which gave birth to the so called page 3 culture.
I 'm curious to know why your writing style is so good in some parts of the paper and so poor in others. And why have you not shown such great writing on the in-class essays?" • "This long passage doesn 't sound like your normal style. Is this a quotation where you accidentally forgot the quotation marks?" • "Explain to me again what the rules for paraphrasing or summarizing are.
The study on television news used more categories. However, some of them were very similar and the amount of articles in each would be too small. Therefore, I decided to reduce the number of the categories and create more general ones.
