Growing up in Nigeria where the quality of health care is low, and seeing missionary nurses from the United State and Europe care for the patients in my community has always been a motivation to give back since I was a little kid. The joy on their face, the smiles and the concerns they feel with patients is immeasurable. The best reward a nurse wants is to see a patient get better, pain free and healthy. It takes a genuine person to feel the pain a patient is going through. Nursing isn 't just a job, it’s a calling and a responsibility. To serve people who really need care, whose hope depends on the care a nurse gives. Watching this video, brought another perception of who nurses are. I see nurses are heroes, healer and a comforter. As a student nurse, whose ultimate goal is to help people, and give the best care to patients. Educating the patient on their health issues, helping families get access to vital care and information in the community and hospitals is my role as a nurse. Creating an interconnection between myself and my patients will be my priority. I know it takes trust, and a healing environment for patients to come to trust nurses in their short or long stay in the hospitals and clinics. I will be a nurse who is willing to learn and ask questions when needed. I have been a patient at the hospital, and their incredible healing touch of nurses makes them a healer. Watching the faces of each nurse in the video, the faces of the missionary nurse that gave in my vaccinations and cared for my community in Nigeria and the faces of the nurses that I have come in contact with. They all love and showed selfless care to their patients, and that is the nurse, I am want to become, a nurse who at the end of every shift has a changed lifes in the best way, has given a patient hope, a pain free illness and have made a difference in life. That is “ A Student Nurse That I Am and A I Nurse That I Will
This shows that it's hard to be a nurse and some people just need someone to listen to them. This makes people acknowledge that nursing can take a toll on you. The readers feel like they understand more about the struggles and the rewards that nurses
My contribution to the mission of Nurse Corps Scholarship Program will not be limited to the help in which is needed. It has always been my desire to help others. Working in the medical field now as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant, and as a Direct Care worker for the mentally disabled has trained me to face many different challenges with the correct approach. Also as a Licensed Evangelist Missionary, in my Christian belief, I have had the opportunity to work in the communities helping others in the time of need. With all that I have seen and learned through my work experience and through the church, I will be able to contribute the love, the nurturing, and the comforting of the individual in need while providing the care
Josie’s Story is a truly inspirational and informative book written by a mother who used her grief and sorrow to educate people, and make medical care safe. Josie King was a curious and precocious 18 month old toddler who was just beginning to discover the world, and loved her dog Trapper. One day, while her family was preoccupied downstairs, Josie waddled into the bathroom in search of her blue airplane. She slipped into the bathtub, and turned on scalding hot water onto herself, causing first and second degree burns which covered 60 percent of her tiny body. Josie was admitted to one of the most prestigious children’s hospitals in our country, Johns Hopkins Children 's Center.

My objective as a Nurse Educator
My first personal beliefs/vale is caring and compassion and it is one of the core parts of being a nurse. Being caring and compassion for others have been part of my value/belief system, as a child I remember caring for my grandmother when she was ill, I would sit by her bed holding her hand and giving her sips of water in-between our conversations. The passion to help and care for others is part of my nature , and as a professional nurse you need to have an overwhelming amount of compassion for your patients and their family and be able to support their physical, spiritual and emotional
I was not born into the world to do everything, but I was born into the world with great intentions; intentions to make a difference, to be an outstanding leader, ambassador, and advocate to serve and give back to the society. Ever since I have known myself, I have always wanted to become a nurse. A hardship that has made me stronger is, after my first semester in the pre-nursing
The nurse must ensure that all staff are properly trained, medications are correct and up to date, all children must have access to healthcare, and nutritional considerations must be taken into account. Cheryl’s most important job is to make sure that the teachers caring for the children are properly trained on what to do in a medical situation or emergency.
Without nurses, there would be no well-provided patient care, but without the push to give nurses the appreciation for their undervalued work, they wouldn’t be able to take care of their sick patients. Ultimately, this website carries a powerful argument in the vital roles nurses take on. Mercer University uses mostly a lot of statistics to make an enthralling case on the why the role of nurses is important. The website itself serves as a very reliable resource to any individual looking forward to learning more about the nurse role in the medical field, and to show people in general that numerous nurses are dramatically
Theo-Ethnic Reflection The role of mission work in the life of Christian nurses is significant. I believe that all Christians are called to work as the hands and feet of God. This calling in the lives of Christian nurses is specifically geared towards health promotion and healing.
It is the person and their physical, emotional, and psychological needs that are the basic focus of nursing’s attention. In order to care for a patient, the nurse must incorporate all these needs. For example, providing reassurance with an anxious patient who just finished hip surgery. Care also plays a major part when taking care of a unique patient. Caring influences my personal philosophy because it is the most important aspect of nursing.
“More highly educated nursing workforce is critical to meeting the nation’s nursing needs and delivering safe, effective patient care….. Without a more educated nursing workforce, the nation’s health will be further at risk (Tri-council for Nursing, 2010).” As the acuity of the patient increases daily, so is the need for increases of higher education for nurses. The factor of increasing complexity of patient health require higher education for the liability of safe practice, thus is an agreeable requirement for employers to place upon the employees. Acquiring a bachelor’s degree is only an improvement for everyone.
Being a nurse is not always as easy and picture perfect as people paint it to be. A nurse is expected to act perfectly professional, even when tears, anger and all-around emotions are begging to come out. A nurse must always be the one that has their life together, especially when others do not. They are there to be the ones to hold and care for others in desperate times of need. Nurses are expected to be more than just a nurse, but rather an advocate, caregiver, support system and professional.
A nurse must keep up to date on education and new processes in health-care, so they can provide the best care. As a nurse, you have promised to give each of your patients the best care that can possibly be given. Nurses must follow a code of ethics, to act safely, provide ethical care no matter how they feel about the patient or the reason they are in your care. Following this code of ethics shows your commitment to caring for people and society, it is a guide of ethics and standards to follow to keep everyone safe. Nursing is also a wonderful opportunity to meet hundreds of people from almost every nationality and every walk of life.
After the sudden loss of my oldest brother in 2011, my life changed in the blink of an eye. While trying to overcome this heartbreaking experience was one of the most challenging things ever faced with, his death soon turned into a true inspiration to me. Not only do I cherish all the memories I was able to share with him over the years, I soon came to realization that tomorrow is not a promise to anyone and to live life to the fullest. With this being said, having the opportunity to have an impact on someone everyday whether through communication, actions and/or attitude to help heal is something very powerful to me. Nursing is a profession that allows individuals to open new doors to learn something new and making the best of everyday for each
I am in my third year of nursing and I am currently working in a hospital on an Orthopedic Neurological Trauma Unit. I collaborate with patients to identify the prominent health issues they are experiencing and advocate to ensure the care they receive is the most effective for their healing process. Patient interaction, learning new skills and evidence based practice, and being hands on with patient care are the benefits of my job that I enjoy the most. I form a bond with these patients and listen to their personal story to ensure that I give care individualized for each patient. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I can connect with patients of various age ranges and diagnoses by applying these
