Should Students Get Paid For Grades Essay

I think that paying student should happen because if we get paid we have more motivation to do the work and have more reasons to do better. Every year 1.2 million people drop out of school because of no motivation. Plus if we save up we can pay for college. If we have motivation we have more control of our grades.

Have you ever thought why college athletes should get paid? Paying them in college might help them later in life. Paying them will help them save up their money on stuff they need later in life. Paying the athletes will help benefit them and the college and organization. I think college athletes should get paid cause because the college makes money off of them. And most of them work hard in practice and play great in the game. Colleges should help their athletes by paying them.

Taking a look at the average college student, should they be paid for what they are studying? Probably not. Then why should college athletes be paid? They shouldn 't get paid just because of their athletic ability. They shouldn 't be paid because they are students, not professionals. If colleges began to pay their athletes, then they could build a bad reputation for being mercenary and lose their educational reputation If they are allowed to play, then it can be financially detrimental to the college because there are many flaws in the system. College athletes should not be compensated for their actions regarding athletic activities, no matter what sport or level they compete on.

Many people believe that college athletes should be paid. They believe that college athletes should get paid because they play that full-time as a sport, that is their main focus. But others believe that college athletes shouldn’t get paid. Most of the time people think that college athletes should not get paid because there whole tuition is paid for. All of their books, dorm, and food. There are a lot of problems with how college athletes are treated and many teachers, students, and coaches are wanting to change that. College athletes shouldn’t get paid, or should they?

After reading this peer reviewed journal article, I got a great understanding on what pay for play actually is. In this short article, the research that is being addressed is determining whether National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) athletes should be getting paid to play their respected sport. It is clear that there is really no simple way in to clearing this problem up. It is a question that seems to arise twice a year. Every March when the NCAA’s March Madness arrives, and as well when the NCAA football season starts. Al Woods titles his argument College Athletes Should Be Paid because the schools are making money off the players, some athletes are being paid under the table, and athletes are giving up on education. However, Krikor Meshefejian titles his argument College Students Should Not Be Paid because students receive scholarships, the payment system is “problematic”, and the experience is payment enough(98-99.) Meshefejian has the better argument that students should not be paid.

Did you know that paying students for having good grades resulted in a decrease in dropout rates, gangs, alcohol, and drug use? Students should get paid for having excellent grades. The reason why this is important is because it could lead to a brighter future for society. Three reasons why students should get paid for having awesome grades is because cash for good grades provide students with career-like rewards, it decreases dropout rates, and with the right incentive,could lead to success. All of those three reasons could and will result in success. Almost any child would work hard for cash. Those are some reasons why kids should get paid for good grades.

In the story “Grades and Money”. Steven Vogel, a college professor teaching philosophy at a small private college in the Midwest talks about students worrying about getting better grades, rather than learning the material. He discusses how back when he was in school students never talked about what their grade was in a class, and now that’s all kids talk about. He gives many examples of students being open about their grades. In the story he states “ openness about grades is probably healthier than the kind of highfalutin’ squeamishness we exhibited-but rather to explain the difficulty I feel in really understanding grades, in grasping what exactly they are and what they are for”. They must first see the differences between rewarding older and younger children. Children who have not yet gone through adolescence should be rewarded for things such as effort, teamwork, and perseverance to finish an activity. These are traits that they are still learning about and so, when they succeed in fulfilling tasks, then they should be rewarded. On the other hand, older children who are attending high school and college have already learned those lessons, and so don’t need for them to be acknowledged quite as much. Instead, they should focus on obtaining the skills they need to become independent. Therefore, their grades in school should be honest in order to reveal what their strengths are and what they need to improve on. No matter what age, society must tell the next generation that winning is not a healthy goal. Instead, when learning, children should focus on making milestones and steps rather than just reaching the ultimate goal. Grades and trophies are just part of that process and are only useful if used with thought and

“Kids should be satisfied with the warm fuzzy feeling of accomplishment.” Is this possible when being paid for good grades? When paid for good grades, students are no longer learning for a better future, but rather just for the reward of money. If the purpose of school is to educate, does the prize of cash take that away? From students feeling not needed pressure, to taking away the natural motivation to learn, to not remembering the material presented, students should not be paid for good grades.

Schools are just like jobs. The boss expects the workers to stay on task and do their work well. Teachers want students to work hard and also do their work with effort. If schools really want students to succeed, shouldn’t they be paid? Paying students motivate them to work hard to learn the criteria. How do schools motivate them? With money. Students should be paid for their grades because it will teach them about the real world, level out the playing field, and raise graduation rates.

Grades are an important part of the school system. Grades set the extraordinary students apart from the ordinary ones. In Jerry Farber’s essay, “A Young Person’s Guide to the Grading System,” he argues that grades are the only motivation students have in school. Farber even calls it “phony motivation.” He argues that students do not actually learn anything. Farber also argues that I disagree with Farber’s viewpoint on the grading system and the effect on students.

Students shouldn't have to pay for college, should they? No they shouldn't. Many smart kids who are more likely to succeed have little money and cannot afford college. More kids would go to college, also students would have more freedom to choose what they really wanted to do. College should be free for everyone for the kids with less money, it would help some actually go and be successful in life and they would have more freedom to choose what they want to do.

Do you get paid for your job, then why shouldn’t kids too? Your kids or future kids should be paid for their job. Do you want to be responsible for your child/future child’s struggle in life? Kids should be paid for chores because it helps them with life lessons, value, and last but not least it gives kids a better personality.
