You have just officially graduated from high school and totally done with secondary education life, upon your Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) completion. However, prior to filling your lengthy leisure time with luxuriate and merrymaking events, a cosmic haunting question mark smacks directly at your face, demanding an answer which bears much importance to your future – “Where will I be going to further my studies?”
It is without a shadow of a doubt that this very question flutters over each and every one of us right after we wrapped up our secondary education voyage. Clearly the most obvious difference will be the cost required. It is beyond doubt that studying abroad is far more costly than studying locally. For a start, different countries possess different currency rate; and typically, upon converting the currency here in Malaysia to another, the value that we acquire will be much lesser. Moreover, the cost of travelling abroad and living there will be substantially expensive, having included the price of food, home, and other essential needs. In addition, certain countries will experience a number of distinctive seasons – autumn, summer, winter, spring – and students will then have to spare more money in order to attain suitable clothing. On another hand, to study locally in Malaysia does not require many expenses. It is far easier and cheaper to travel back and forth. Also, students can manage their time with more convenience and trouble-free. In addition, local students who are studying locally will be able to apply for scholarships; and on certain cases, the government will generally offer subsidy when it comes to tuition fees.
