Accordingly, to the organization of the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention, suicide becomes the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S. We need to be aware of the consequences we are making not only to ourselves but to other people like our friends or family. There’s many opportunities in the world to still live by and there’s local services and programs to help out the teens, adults and even elderly people from suicide prevention. Life is tough and I know we all go to ups and downs, but we need to agree that suicide isn’t the answer to ending our lives and we need to change it. Young and elderly people commit suicide for different reasons and need different treatments. The issue of suicide has been around for quite a long time since the Middle Ages.
Alexie said many of his friends have died from alcohol abuse, and it is devastating the Native American society who as a result suffers from the highest suicide rate among any ethnic group in the United States. People are liable to turn to alcoholism because of things that are happening in their lives; because of that, it is important to be aware of how other people are doing. Caring leads to an environment which is open and
It is very shocking that this great number of teens find it necessary to take their own lives. Some of the more common reasons seem to come from pressures in high school, problems with parents, problems with relationships, and increasingly drug or alcohol related problems. Suicide has become one of the leading causes of death for young people around the world. Young people are more vulnerable than adults to thoughts of suicide. The increasing
Ask anyone and they will say that we have done a lot of damage to the Earth, but what have we done to ourselves. Today’s society is full of overweight or obese people and it’s killing us at a fast pace. Someone is considered overweight if they have a BMI (Body Mass Index) between 25 and 29 and obese if there BMI is 30 or higher (World Health Organization, n.d.). That being said at least 2.8 million people die each year because they are overweight or obese (World Health Organization, n.d.). To change the world we need to combat obesity!
People can commit suicide by cutting their wrists, gun shot, jumping from heights or hang themselves. So, what are the main causes that makes people commit suicide? The first important cause is psychological problems, there are two main reasons for psychological problems, the first one is, depression. It’s one of the most common problems in the world that can happen at any age. Did you know that according to the world health organization, the United states is one of the most depressed countries in the world.
“It is about ending the incredible despair that exists in many parts of this country where – as a result of unemployment and low wages, suicide, drugs and alcohol – millions of Americans are now dying, in an ahistorical way, at a younger age than their parents (Sanders).” Suicide, drugs, and alcohol are all hard hitting subjects to most, especially suicide. And the fact that he mentions young Americans are succumbing to these things evokes pathos because children are seen more innocent and untouched by society than adults. Therefore, seeing a child, adolescent, or young adult succumb to any of the previously mentioned things would be devastating for most to hear and see.
Some people with be mad about getting taxed more and some people wouldn’t mind getting taxed more as long as it is doing something like helping someone that needs help or saving their lives. “About 800 000 people commit suicide every year…Mental disorders and harmful use of alcohol contribute to many suicides around the world.”(www.who.int) The people I think that won’t like getting taxed the most are people like Lennie and George who are struggling with money as is but I think if they made more money they wouldn’t mind the solution that I have come up with to the human rights problem in Of Mice And Men. The solution that I have come up with to the human rights problem in Of Mice And Men will only work if lots of people cooperate. If people don’t cooperate by not paying a little be more taxes then my solution will not be effective as if everyone did. Lennie would be alive today is people understood what was wrong with him and if he got the help that he need so he could be more stable and possible beat his mental
Teenage suicide, in other words, youth suicide has not been a new issue in modern life nowadays. This matter has become a tragedy over the world, a burden for both governments and families. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), suicide is the third-leading cause of death for 15-24 years old, after accidents and homicide. The statistics of CDC estimates that at least 25 attempts are made for every completed teen suicide. Studies in Britain have shown that half of these are related to behavior called bullying or what the author of Lord of the Flies, William Golding calls it, “The Darkness of Man’s Heart.” Thousands of people bully, however do these behaviours, or “The Darkness of Man’s Heart,” belong naturally in human nature? I suppose that behaviors such as bullying and maybe even war, are an intrinsic part of human
Being bullied should be an experience that no youth ever has to go through. Young teens who are being bullied try to seek out ways to cope with the pain and suffering. As a result, teen suicide is the third leading cause for all deaths among teens aged 15-19. Teens suicide attempts and completions have steadily been on the rise since 2000.
