A significant part of the movie was when Everett, Pete, and Delmar discovered a mysterious group of people dressed in white walking in one direction towards some unknown destination. The camera panned around the three as they take in the scene, staring in awe at the swarm of people around them (Cohen, 0:17:10). The main protagonists had no idea what was going on, and neither did the audience. The camera in this scene was probably shot mounted to a dolly, as the movement was smooth and clearly controlled. By purposefully slowing the speed at which the camera encircled them, it built suspense and encouraged the viewers to wonder why a bunch of people, all intentionally wearing white, were in the middle of the forest. The scene then cut to Everett and his friends trailed the congregation. The camera followed them and started panning up, dramatically revealing the answer to their question: a lake (Cohen, 0:17:50). Because the director deliberately chose to shoot this scene in one take, he took the viewers on the same journey the characters were traveling so that the audience would discover the congregation’s intentions at the same time Everett, Pete, and Delmar did. To succeed, a crane was used in order to capture the scene as a whole and reveal the lake, the people, and the priest submerging them one by one in the water all at once. This showed that the lake was important and that something significant to their journey would take place
