What is normal? Who says what is normal and what is not? Can “normal” be changed? Many people have tried to figure out the answer to these troubling social questions. The problem with the concept of normalcy is that there is not set and fixed definition of normal. It is defined by what it is not; like normal is not being disabled. Normalcy and disability is like the question: what is darkness without light? Throughout all the readings in this course, the idea of normalcy has been brought up. However, in Rethinking Normalcy the authors not only defined normal, but used it to show how people think and how it is used to “help” people with disabilities. Throughout the book Rethinking Normalcy one will come to realize that disability is any kind

Don’t everyone have different abilities and levels of proficiency? I would argue that everyone that has a disability or not has a ballpark normalcy. I appreciate Lisa Blumberg, sharing her views on her experiences of being a child with a disability. Consequently, she wrote the article solely based on her own experiences and needs as a person with a physical disability. However, Lisa's beliefs may not offer an accurate interpretation of every person that has a disability wants and needs.

What is different between "normal" and "abnormal”? as those words apply to the physically and emotional states and behaviors of human beings. Some people might do some terrible thing, such as murdering, sleeping next to the corpse, and other action that normal people are not generally doing in society. These people seem to like to be abnormal, this is due to the ability that most humans have distinguished right from wrong. many times, these “abnormal" people repeat their actions, not only because they might enjoy their actions, but also mental problem block them understanding how horrible and extreme their actions really are.
While most are like this, the group that are “normal” are indeed normal act like anyone else would and work as a team to

Mental health issues ranging from the doubts and uncertainties have become a part of daily routine, towards serious long term situation which can be very complex for managing and having a diversifying impact on the overall live of the people. The usual child health leads to contribute towards overall development (Watson & Le Couteur, 2011). Therefore it is important to take special care of people with complex disability as they turn out to be sensitive enough about the situation and environment they are living in.

n Nancy Mairs essay, “Disability”, she illustrates the lack of representation of people with disabilities in the media. While disability plays a major role in Mairs’ life, she points out the various ways her everyday life is ordinary and even mundane. Despite the normalcy of the lives of citizens with disabilities Mairs argues the media’s effacement of this population, is fear driven. She claims, “To depict disabled people in the ordinary activities of daily life is to admit that there is something ordinary about the disability itself, that it may enter anybody’s life” (Mairs 14). Able bodied people worry about the prospect of eventually becoming physically impaired.
In this report I will discuss both the Social and Medical Models, define their pros and cons and give a short reflection on my own opinion of the two models in everyday use today. Both the medical and the social models of disability describe how they see disability and how they feel disabilities and those suffering should be treated. Both models have very different views on the causes of, how disabilities should be taken care of and by whom and both have their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to caring for those with disabilities. The idea of normalcy is just a creation from the standards created in school. For example, in school students are expected to meet a certain reading level at a certain grade. If students don’t meet this reading standard they are automatically labeled to have reading problems. Rather than researching different methods to teach students how to read, the student is automatically blamed for being below this standard and not at the “normal” level of reading. Mooney also discusses the examination he went through when it was being decided if he has a learning disability.
