For example, a pit bull named, Ember, saved her owner’s son, Tre’, while he was having a seizure (Clark). Tre’ fell back into the bathtub, so Ember started to make this odd noise (Clark). Ember made odd noises to notify Tre’s parents that he was having a seizure (Clark). Pit bulls like Ember can help people and care for them. Pit bulls are the number one pet anyone should choose.
The author introduces character traits to tell how the character act and how they are. Two Hawaiian Boys named Vinny and Joe-Boy are the main characters of the story ‘’ The Ravine.’’ Vinny is scared of heights and he is scared to jump of the 50 foot ledge joe-boy jumped off the 50 foot ledge.Vinny doesn’t want to get in trouble by his mom because she doesn’t want him to jump off the 50 foot ledge he said she would kill him if he did that. His friends were making fun of him because he wouldn’t jump they were calling him a chicken the pond was only 4 feet deep. Joe-boy was bullying vinny. Vinny is different from joe-boy because vinny doesn’t want to go to the ravine and joe-boy is all about going to the ravine when vinny saw the
Odysseus did not want to go war because his son, Telemachus, was just born but he went anyways. Odysseus’s abyss occurred when he sees the prophecy and saw that his mom died and everyone was still grieving. In The Odyssey there were many initiations but the most significant one was, when Odysseus and his men find the cyclops and they are not able to escape. To enable the men to escape Odysseus gets the cyclops drunk, then stabs him in the eye, and then escapes riding on the bottom of the sheep. Finally his return was when Odysseus returns to Ithica he finds that other men are trying to take over his throne.
In the short story “The Pin” by Chris Crutcher, a story in his anthology, Athletic Shorts: Six Short Stories, the theme is about a dad and a son who love each other and hate each other at times. On page 13, the dad shows anger to his son after the wrestling match. “Before more than three hundred people my father slaps the side of my face so hard I sit on the mat as if dropped by a hammer.” He slapped the son for really no reason after the wrestling match in front of his friends and teachers. Cecil was mean to his son because he pinned him in the match. The kid wanted to win and the dad did not want him to win when the dad wanted to show his son how to wrestle. The dad pushed him to do those things I don’t thing the boy wanted to wrestle
In the fictional story, the man who is talking to the young drummer boy says that this battle will take many lives, and be a big battle, in real life, the battle of Shiloh was the biggest battle that they had ever fought up to that point. The man also says that maybe they will name the battle the battle of Shiloh because of how close it was to the church of Shiloh, which they also did end up naming it the battle of Shiloh because of that very reason. Some other small details that make this story historically accurate are how young the boys are, they are both in their early teens and how scared they both are to fight. Ther talk about how everyone else has guns and shields and all they have are drums that call attention towards them and they also talk about how they become targets because they are like the leaders that tell the rest of the men where to go. All of these reasons and details in the fictional story, “The Drummer Boy of Shiloh” add up to a very historically accurate story in my opinion.
Dragline continuously knocks Luke down, but he keeps standing up for more. Another instance is the bet Luke makes with the other prisoners. They bet him that he can not eat fifty hard-boiled eggs in one hour, believing it was impossible. Luke accepted their challenge and miraculously succeeded.
The boys that teased Victor lived on the same reservation as him, but still teased him. Victor and the other little boys came from the same place, but they still treated him badly. Victor also was beat up by a little boy named, Frenchy Sijohn. One day, Victor beat Sijohn up and chanted “it’s a good day to die, it’s a good day to die” all the way down to the principal’s office. Victor stood up to Sijohn and referred to himself as the warrior.
Once at his parents’ house they hung out and had a few drinks, once Hicks was drunk Dahmer tried making a move, but hicks refused and said he wanted to leave. This angered Dahmer so he hit hicks on the back of the head with a barbell, this killed hicks due to the head trauma that was caused. Dahmer panicked and did what came to him as instinct; he cut open the body just like the road kill he would experiment with as a young boy, he put the
His father was also there for Alan’s first experience: when he was young, they were visiting a beach and Alan rode his first horse. When his parents found out they were furious because it was “dangerous” and his father pulled him off the horse so hard Alan fell. He fixated on horses because of their supposed threat, and the rush he got riding them. He took it a step further when he would ride the horses bareback and naked at night, gaining intense personal pleasure. When riding he felt free, which contrasts with his connection to the horses confinements.
In The Call of the Wild, John Thornton is bragging about Buck’s strength and gets caught in his bluff. John says that Buck can pull 1,000 pounds and walk off with it for one hundred yards. A man named Matthewson bets him $1,600 that Buck cannot do it. John Thornton does not want to be embarrassed by his lie, so he accepts the offer. “Thornton’s doubt was strong in his face, but his fighting spirit was aroused- the fighting spirit that soars above odds, fails to recognize the impossible, and is deaf to all save the clamor for battle” (52).
