I was researching online and I found a very interesting case that took place in Houston, Texas. This case involved a 22-year-old female at the time that goes by the name of Cherita Thurman. Cherita was beaten very badly and hog-tied in her apartment back in 2002(KHOU, 2017). The exterminator was making his rounds and that’s when he found her breathless body just lying there. Cherita death was immediately ruled as a homicide because there were no leads to the case (KHOU, 2017). The case of Mrs. Thurman went cold immediately. The cold case unit of Harris County, Texas decided to reopen her case a few years ago. It was a great idea to reopen the case because it helped investigators to the capture the killer. The investigators found a matching DNA collection that was collected at the time the crime was …show more content…
Craig Porter was the man who took Mrs. Thurman’s life. Mr. Porter was being arrested for a drug charge which later led to the discovery of him killing Mrs. Thurman. He was put into the large database which involved DNA technology and it linked him to the case that had went cold. Of course, Mr. Porter denied having in type of dealings with Mrs. Cherita. Thanks to the good crime scene investigators for collecting good DNA samples (Hernandez, 2017). When Mr. Porter was sentenced, he was found guilty of manslaughter. It took fourteen whole years to solve this case. He was sentenced to life in prison. The investigators made it clear to always have faith when dealing with a situation like this. They understand that it is hard dealing with death. The family says they got some closure, but it is still bitter because they will never be able to see Cherita Thurman ever again. It is still unclear to the family as to why would Mr. Porter do
In the article “Cole Case,” the author, Jena Williams writes about Timothy Cole, a falsely accused man charged with 25 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Known as the Texas Tech Rapes, four women were raped from 1984 to 1985. As police searched for the rapist, Cole ran into an undercover cop on campus and told her his name and where he lived. Although not suspected to be the rapist, police ran his license plates and discovered Cole recently filed it as being robbed. Claiming to help him by investigating the robbery, police took Cole’s photo and placed it in a lineup of other mug shots.

On September 5th at 9:15PM a car was discovered burning in the 400 block of Xenia St. SE. A body was later found in the burning vehicle. The vehicle was later determined to be registered to my 21 year old son Malik Thomas. Due to the condition of the body I was asked to submit a DNA sample. Someone attempted to obliterate Malik 's existence.
The article on CNN, “Police: Remains Found under a Bridge Likely Student Who Vanished in 1998”, starts off with explaining how Robert Kovack had gone missing in 1998 on his way to his parent house in West Virginia. Eighteen Years later there was a body found under the New River Grove Bridge. Turns out there was a wallet and identification confirming that the bones of the body was in fact Kovack. The case has now been reopened and tests are going to be done to figure out what was the cause of death.
Brent Bishop’s punishment is unreasonable and intolerable because his actions leads to a killing. He was convicted of manslaughter and drunk driving. Manslaughter means the crime of killing someone by accident. The situation creates a devastation for the victim’s family. Even though he has a the feeling of guilt inside him, it is not the right retribution, or a justly deserved penalty, for him.
To start, The Black dahlia murder till this very day is one of L.A’s oldest cold cases to date. On January, 15, 1947, A local resident finds a severed body of a 22 year old woman named Elizabeth Short (Newton 25). Later, Investigators found that Short had been taken and killed somewhere else, washed and drained of blood, and then discarded in a vacant lot. (Newton 35).
Victim was a female name Heather Camp 33 years old from Canton Georgia. Call into 911 came from someone within neighborhood. The woman body seem to be strangled and rape. Additionally her nails were removed, no ID was on the victim, however a fight seem to appear. Signs were that clothes were removed from her body, along with a bucket of human fetus was found inside the home.
From the current evidence, it looks to be a very heinous crime. The body is not found which leads us to believe that the killer, may he be Mike Mean, has hidden or disposed of the body after the murder. It is very likely that it was a murder as there was a very large amount of blood found at the crime scene, her apartment. She would have needed immediate medical attention after this but no records are showing that she received it. There were also many other pieces
A blood spatter proved in a case study that a teen could not have murdered her parents. In a murder case where an 18-year-old, Sarah Johnson was sentenced to life in prison for committing a first degree murder for both her and dad. The case reopened when a retired crime lab technician Michael Howard “testified that whoever shot Diane and Alan Johnson at close range on September 2, 2003, would have been hit by a "rain" of blood spatter” (http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/03/03/johnson/index.html?eref=sitesearch). Howard came up with his theories proving that, Sarah was not even close in committing those murders and it is a wrongful conviction. Based on blood spatter, Howard disclosed that the shooting which took place was at a very close range and
The verdict in this case generated an epidemic of outrage throughout the world. I agree with the not-guilty verdict on the murder one and two charges; however, the evidence is not as incontrovertible as some have suggested. I also agree that there was some mischaracterization around the 31 days; yet, to trivialize this behavior as simply immature is inaccurate. The way Casey handled the death was inexcusable.
The creation of Blood Spatter Analyst has changed the perspective all crime scenes which are intensely solved in a completely new direction. It is the examination of shapes, distribution patterns and location of the bloodstain in order to find the real image which was created in the crime scene. A woman discovered the bodies of 2 young black men concealed in the vegetation alongside a road in 1979. These murders were the beginning of “Atlanta Child Murders”, which would total, nearly 20 young black males by 1981. These black young men had been strangled or suffocated (Trace evidence Wayne Williams (n.d.). The police had no witnesses only and relied on the forensic evidence of fibers found on the bodies and clothing of the victims.
Throughout the whole investigation of the Gail Miller rape and murder case there were many wrongs committed leading up to the false conviction of David Milgaard. The authorities were pressured by the public and other groups to convict someone of this heinous crime and in doing so this action of theirs put an innocent man behind bars for twenty-three years. Right from the start of the investigation there were faults and incorrect procedures perpetrated by the police. The events that took place leading up to the conviction of Mr. Milgaard demonstrate just how sloppy the investigation took a turn when the police became lax in their investigational procedures.
