The court case titled The People v. O.J. Simpson highlighted the longstanding racism of the country by showcasing a black celebrity under the scrutiny of the law, with race a key factor in determining a verdict. The case also brought to light the celebrity culture, and that even the rich and famous are still susceptible to the court system, and possibly have to face the replications of their actions. These themes are brought together in “the trial of the century” in which Orenthal James (O.J.) Simpson is accused of having committed the murders of his ex wife Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ronald Goldman.

Upon hearing he was to be arrested, O.J. embarked on his famous car chase, where the L.A.P.D. chased him on the highway until eventually catching up to him at his home. In his home, Simpson is joined by friend Al Cowlings, who negotiated with the police until the arrival of lawyer, Robert Shapiro, who will become Simpson’s lead attorney in the case following his arrest. There was a significant amount of DNA evidence that was found both at the crime scene and Simpson’s home that suggested he was involved with the murder. Blood samples were found on a sock in Simpson’s home that matched that of Nicole. Additionally blood was found inside of O.J.’s Ford Bronco, which he had ran from the authorities in. Much of the DNA evidence was questionable, as the defence pressed that it had not been collected properly. The most significant piece of evidence however was a blood soaked glove, one found at the crime scene, the other found at Simpson’s home. During the trial, Simpson was asked to put the gloves on, however they did not seem to fit his hands.
