Slavery was a easy way to get people to do your work for you. It was cheap and easy labor that almost anyone can buy. The constitution was made to protect the rights of the people but it gave more power to the government. Also when the colonies said “The People” they were referring to white males. The African American males still weren 't even looked at as people they were looked at as property. Even though there were positive aspects of the Constitution, the government it created was unjust because it greatly limited democracy and protected slavery. During the late 1700s slavery was important to the southern states. Slaves cultivated crops, cared for their masters and their families, and still have to care for themselves because no one else
Overall, the Constitution did not establish a fair government. The document lacked equality in all different aspects. The Constitution gave the United States a strong, central government, but that didn 't make it fair. White males were the only exception in the Constitution, the only person with natural rights that were thoroughly protected. As far as natural rights go, the Constitution protected slavery thus defeating the purpose of becoming an independent nation: to have
The flaws of the constitution is that it was extremely difficult to pass new amendments, and left women and African Americans out of the document. The Constitution also allowed slavery to continue. The framers of the Constitution believed that concessions on slavery were the price for the support of southern delegates for a strong central government. Some positive points of the constitution were through its amendments. The Constitution created an effective national government, one that balances expansive powers with
Avoids the issue of having a monarchy or exaggeratedly powerful ruler, in which they have no say on the laws. The constitution did not take into consideration that the states were barely reuniting and were not known for working together or even being together. The constitution did not address the slave’s
The United States Constitution, which shows law, rule and power, was ratified in 1787. In this professional document there have mention one important concept that is slave. However it did not completely resolve the slavery issue. In the flowing paragraphs, I will explain the ways in which the Constitution did and did not respond slavery and give the answer about in the Constitution why did the founding fathers not outlaw slavery completely.
The Constitution gave hope to a lot of free white males. It ensured liberties and security for those who were addressed in the Constitution and it enabled people to succeed in their ventures. This document gave the Colonists the power to govern themselves. Though through this Constitution not
Previously, the colonists had problems with a faulty government and feared tyranny. When the colonists first had the opportunity to self-govern, The Articles of Confederation was formed and thus a poor example of government. The Articles of Confederation creating a weak, defenceless and powerless country. In the second attempt to create a more perfect government, the Constitution of the United States of America was formed. The colonists decided to place a guard against tyranny and thus, over 230 years after the writing of the Constitution of the United States, The Constitution in fact protects the states, the states rights and the citizens rights against tyranny.
Douglass describes the harsh conditions slaves felt through extensive descriptions of their lifestyle. One example of these abhorrent conditions Douglass describes is when he reveals to the reader how slaves were given limited clothing for the year. He mentions how all the clothing that was allocated for the year for slaves “could not have cost them more than seven dollars,” and in the case of children who outgrew their clothes, they were forced to be “naked until the next allowance-day.” In addition to limited clothing, repeated separation forced numerous hardships on slaves.
The Constitution unclear on too many different aspects (slavery,
The Abolitionists Growing up as a Christian I never could understand how people claimed to be saved or god’s servant but yet can discriminate against skin color. I was taught God is of love regardless of skin color, size or how the person looks. Such as Caucasians with African Americans and even so how could they attend church but yet have slave servants in their home? As shown in the documentary most of the film was a conflict about slavery and the few whites that was against it. Such as “Angelina Grimké” a Caucasians female Christian who despised slavery and watch her parents live with it with no moral or self-respected.
Ultimately, the U.S. Constitution was pro-slavery because there wasn 't anything in it that was overly anti-slavery; slavery was being supported. I think that it makes sense to have the Constitution be pro-slavery because the country was left in a chaotic state after the Articles of Confederation failed and it needed to become united fast. To quickly unite the country, the Constitution needed everyone’s support and help, which couldn 't have been received without slavery. The large slave states wouldn 't have ratified the Constitution if slavery was going to be abolished
Moreover, slavery was abolished and our country turned out to be one full of liberty and opportunity, regardless of your race, sex, and social status. The Constitution helped shape and mold our country to make it what it is today, a country full of opportunity. Furthermore, the six elements stated in the preamble have kept our country united and have kept its public
The United States was founded on a rebellion against tyranny, so it was clear that the founding fathers would want to put some protections against tyranny in the Constitution. Tyranny is the accumulation of too much power in one person’s hands. America needed a new government that was strong yet would not fall prey to any forms of tyranny. The old constitution, the Articles of Confederation, had made the government far too weak. In it, the newly formed government had no chief executive, there was no court system, and there was no way for the central government to force a state to pay taxes.
• A. Hook: Slavery is the most horrible thing to do to a child. Slavery is people making kids do what they want them to do no matter what. Slavery started when they brought the first american colony to the united states. Slavery was practiced through the american colonies in the 17th and 18th centuries. Slavery means to get bullied and bossed around about somebody.
Are “all men created equal”? Why did the Constitution allow slavery to continue? The framers of the Constitution allowed slavery to continue because of political, economic, and social issues. They wanted their nation to be unified and the number of states to stay intact. They wanted to secure wealth and slavery was a great part of their economy.
