Summer Reading Essay In an ideal world humankind would be able to create order and freedom without repression. However, in practice this has not occurred and to this day, order can hardly be reached without repression of some kind. Arthur Miller writes “It is impossible for man to organize himself without repression, and the balance has yet to be struck between order and freedom.” In writing this, Miller gives an insight into an unfortunate part of the framework of present day American society; humans must repress others in order to free themselves and create order.
