Undoubtedly, the increasing possibilities of Information and communication technologies have improved and enhanced the focus of the companies. Especially the utilization of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software which have been the powerful force behind the strong emphasis of manufacturing companies to handle and control the flow of goods in an integrated manner. ERP packages are software systems which are designed to integrate automate and standardize processes within the organizations and throughout the value chains and this are achieved by collection of modules which is linked through a single database through which all the modules are draw, update and manipulate data. 7.5.3- Identification and traceability- Lynxnet LLC. Warehouse Manager or Lynxnet authorized personnel will check and verify the Pickup Receipt for quantity and Inspect for damage and then sign the Pickup Receipt. A Pickup Receipt form consists of Point of Order number, Vendor, Requestor, Project assignment, date received, and packing slip number. Lynxnet Warehouse Manager will now file the Pickup Receipt and add these items to Lynxnet Accountable Database or Non- Accountable Data base, and then stored in the Lynxnet area of the warehouse, where items are stored in locked, dry, and designated locations. Also items are now stored in label locations and inputted into Lynxnet database.

Organizational structure – ERP implementations are relatively smoother in centralized organizations than in decentralized ones. Morgridge, Cisco’s CEO, maintained a centralized functional organisation – manufacturing, customer support, finance, HR, IT and sales organizations were centralized. Hence for Cisco it was more of software replacement than change management (compared to the kind of resistance to ERP and accompanying standardization in decentralized organizations).
