Mrs. Maria Teresa Garza is a great example of discipline and persistence in accomplishing her dream of teaching. She has been a teacher for about twenty two and a half years until this day she's enjoying every moment of it. Throughout her years in the teaching industry, she's been in so many schools within the United Independent School District and even moved to a higher position. Starting off her first year in teaching, she taught second grade in Perez Elementary School teaching all subjects such as Math, Reading, Science, English, and History. She described it as “Fun, but yet challenging at first since it was my first year.”
(qtd in Long). Those going into teaching now go into this profession knowing they will most likely have to work multiple jobs if they do not have a partner that is able to support them. This is causing a lack of teachers which in turn is causing them to be spread too thin and way overworked which is horrible. This relates to my life as someone studying special education currently. Studying the development of minority ethnic groups is vital if researchers want to understand how they may differ from the majority. Personal and environmental factors interact to either leave a positive or negative effect on adolescents of all ethnicities. However, ethnic minorities, such as Latinos, deal with certain stressors and risk factors more often the majority ethnic group. One particularly high risk factor is discrimination, which is very prevalent in minorities and can be highly stressful and leave lasting effects on those who experience it. This study focused on Latino adolescents, and wanted to find out whether social support provided in schools could offset discrimination.
The role of an educator is not only to teach the many children that come through our classrooms, it is essential to form relationships with students that makes them feel like they matter and that goes above and beyond a teacher's job. It is essential for children to feel valuable, appreciated and motivated in the early stages of their education, the reason why I am pursuing a Masters of Arts in Teaching for an Elementary level academic setting. Receiving a Bachelor’s of Arts in Education Sciences at the University of California Irvine and the leadership roles I have undertaken in my employment has prepared me to begin and undertake a Masters of Arts in Teaching
MS-13: Born in Fire Introduction There are not many gangs on this planet more violent than Mara Salvatrucha, otherwise known as MS-13. Efforts to halt their efforts have been modest at best.
The decision to enter a profession that has the potential to affect hundreds of lives of children each year should not be taken lightly. One must make sure they are ready for the challenges and responsibilities as well as the joys of humour entering the profession” (Hembree, 2013). Some actions that might ensure that we don’t lose sight of the commitments that we once made as new educators entering the profession would be to maintain an emotional commitment and have a lot of patience. “Great teachers’ emotionally commit to their subject matter and students daily. Teaching can feel incredibly rewarding when things go well

In fact, according to collegeatlas.com, 70 percent of Americans will go to a 4-year college, but less than two thirds of those students will graduate. Although college is challenging, I am going to succeed by using advice from experts, developing strategies, and taking advantages of the benefits my college offers me. I know coming right into college will be challenging for me. One of my challenges that I face is that I have ADHD, which means that I lose focus very easily.
I am pursing a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I am passionate about education and excited to share the joy of learning with students. The perspective of wonder and sense of excitement that children bring into education motivates me daily. Teaching can leave a lasting impression in a child’s life and offers a special opportunity to shape the bright young minds of future generations. While many professions can be impactful, I believe the qualities of the person in the career position to be the most influential.
