1.) In the film Oh Brother Where Are Thou, I did not notice many invisible sounds, on the contrary I noticed a lot of visible sounds. Some invisible sounds could be when the three guys Everett, Delmar and Pete are driving in the car, and another visible sounds could be in the beginning of the film when the three men are hiding in the farm shed, for example when the town came to capture them we heard a lot of voices, but didn't necessarily see their faces. 2.) The sound effects in particular that contribute to a sense of reality and feeling of being there would be ambient sounds, I say this because ambient sounds are natural to the scenes environment.
Music can make a scene more compelling because it adds emotion to a scene. For example, in the beginning of the documentary when the narrator was talking about Kristallnacht, there was a frantic orchestra accompanying his more and added sound effects of glass breaking. It makes a person feel more anxious and frightened of what is to come and sets the tone for the documentary, since the event of Kristallnacht is one of the best pieces of evidence as to why Jewish people need to be able to escape the terrors of Hitler’s control as soon as possible. Another example is when there would be a transition of a scene to the Klein family, and the music had a melancholy tune to it and it added more to the scene to draw out more emotion from the viewers.

When the inventor died in Edward Scissorhands there was music that projected a sad mood. This helps the audience connect with the movie more and intrigues the audience more. As Edward and Kim were talking there was angelic, happy music that becomes louder as Edward and Kim hug. In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, when Charlie finds the money on the ground, Burton uses happy music to project an exciting and magical feeling to the audience. In Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Edward Scissorhands Burton uses camera movements, camera angles, and non-diegetic music to set a certain mood that the audience should feel.
During the introduction scene of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the composition is busy and in a rush, as is the imagery of the different machines working a outputting chocolate. Another memorable scene in terms of music was in Edwards Scissorhands, when Edward is cutting the ice sculpture as Kim dances in the ‘snow’ that comes from the pieces that he cuts off. The music gives off a dream-y feeling. Tim uses music and composition to add extra feeling to an exciting scene.
The sounds of the play work in a very similar fashion. Even before the play, there was a plethora of songs from the Simpsons being played while the audience waited for the production to begin. The play does have musical elements so there are many times that the dialogue calls for random spots of song. This important for the understanding the play as a whole. The songs set the mood for each scene.
Sound is being used to create or sense the mood for the audience. For example, when Kim’s father is outside, diegetic sound is used so the characters hear the baseball game playing in the background which makes the situation exciting for the audience. Edward finishes trimming a bush (the dinosaur) and everyone is amazed. This can appear to create a dramatic and happy effect for the audience. The sound then crescendos to make it seem as if Edward is being cheered on by the crowd.

Early in the film, the importance of background music and its use can be seen. The music is used to create the mood, whether it be the eerie violin audio that often can be heard at times where suspense is anticipated or the same music to create sorrow for the overall significance of the film. The film being built upon a murder case creates fury and differing viewpoints between the main characters which often can be related to prejudice. The use of details not only makes the murder more interesting but also the overall scene more intense. The detailed dialogue among the characters is so precise it offers minute details such as the witness statement of the time of the crime, the entry way of the weapon, and the witness testifying without her glasses.
