Sustainable development has been described in several times and Brundtland Report’s is one of the laconic definitions and says, “Development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." However, nowadays the aim of sustainable development has been transformed into the sustainable sources for the maximum profit and also many people have misunderstood the meaning of sustainability as just protection of environment and reduction of poverty. Poor sleep can cause neuropsychological (memory capacity and attention declines and learning skill weakness), psychosocial (mood disorders, withdrawn behaviours and increased aggression) and physiological (high risk of being overweight and low immune system functions) problems. Sleep deprivation is hard for adults but it’s harder for young people. Inadequate sleep associated with emotional and physical difficulties, poor academic performance, problems with social relationships and many other troubles. Changes in sleeping habits are generally seen at the periods of adolescence and young adult ages.

This essay reviews the some surveys about sleep deprivation problem of teenagers and collage students and the causes and consequences of this problem and shows the possible solution proposals.

After the industrial revolution, particularly after the arrival of electric light, the rate of sleeping duration has been gradually decreased all around the world.
