Climate change is a core problem facing the earth. The world, which we are living today, is completely different from the world lived by our ancestors. Industrialization and technology advancements have taken place, resulting in the emission of harmful gases into the atmosphere, hence distracting the ozone layer. Various regions of the world have experienced the implications brought along by climate change. According to Flottum, climate change has been termed as the increase in average surface temperatures on earth.
There is massive depletion of the ozone layer, resulting in much heat reaching the surface of the earth, instead of it such heat being reflected back by the ozone layer, back into space. The core causes of climate change are wide.

Sustainable development is a growth that encounters the wants of the current generation, without conceding the wants of the upcoming generations (United Nations Publications). Through the program, I will enable people to learn the various ways to have a development, which is sustainable, and at the same time having protection for the environment. To have the issue to do with climate change, there is a need for people to consider planting trees, in areas already cleared for development, in farms, and at homes as well. This will aid in the creation of a carbon sink, whereby much of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is …show more content…
At my town of residence, I will ground a club and register it. This club will be based on the same vision, similarly to the online sensitization. This will enable people in the society to develop a positive attitude towards the environment and to see the need for planting more and more trees in the wake of every dawn. To have a bigger magnitude and weighty sensitization, I can have a merge up of other interested parties, including organizations and institutions, interested in the conservation of the environment and afforestation activities on the globe. This will enable a bigger portion of the society to see sense being addressed and create a sustainable environment for the present generation and the future generations as
Changes occurring in the sun itself can affect the climate change on Earth. The intensity of the sunlight reaching the Earth can cause either warming or cooling. The sun flows a natural 11 year cycle of small ups and downs in intensity, but the effect of it on the Earth’s climate is negligible. However, over the past years, the sun’s intensity has been lower than the mid 20th century, and therefore does not explain the recent warming of the Earth. • Also
People may know about climate change and the drastic changes it is having on the environment, but what they may not be aware of is that another degree increase in the world’s average temperature will cause even bigger problems for people all over. Climate change is long term shifts in temperature and patterns in the weather. Greenhouse gasses, gasses that trap heat in the atmosphere causing it to warm up are at an all-time high due to humans and the amount of fossil fuels we use. The most crucial result of climate change is global health, but animal endangerment and the rise in sea levels are also very important effects.
Population growth has continued to grow and people have continued to use up the earth’s resources. Climate change is an issue caused by humans and their disregard for the planet. Humans have used up so much of the earth’s resources that it poses a threat to all things living. Animals are becoming extinct and their habitats are being lost. Humans need to expand and build more places to live because there is not enough space for everyone due to population growth.
In my opinion, Learning Module 1 is the most meaningful and important of all learning modules reviewed in this class. The Learning Module 1 is about the basics of physical geography, which includes Chapter 1: Discovering the Earth’s dimensions, Chapter 2: The Earth’s global energy balance, and Chapter 3: Air temperature. Chapter 1 is about understanding how our planet works. I think that every individual of our society should know about the characteristics of our planet such as, the shape of the Earth, the solar system, where are we located? , what time is it?
Climate change is an irreversible consequence of the damage we do to our Earth. If we do not change our ways, the global temperature will swell, causing an unchangeable series of events, consecrating detriments onto all the existence upon Earth. In only about 140 years, the average global temperature has increased 0.8 degrees celsius, and the ramification is the irreparable destruction of the place where we and millions of other species live. The most important consequence of climate change is the global increase in temperature and how that is affecting various animal species all over the Earth, the health of humans, and the rapid rise of sea level.
It would therefore be more realistic to encourage all parties involved in the process of deforestation to manage the resources of the forest in a sustainable way. This means that the usage of the methods of clear-cutting and burning would have to be eliminated if the forest ecosystem is to be able to remain intact. If certain trees need to be cut down, however, then theses should be replaced by enough young trees which can fill the same role to an equal extent as the ones which are cut down. Here it’s important to acknowledge that it’s impossible to eliminate deforestation completely since the growing population puts a high demand for more land which is used for agricultural purposes. Therefore the solution must include keeping a balance between deforestation and efforts of reforestation, sustainable management of forests and respecting the integrity of protected
By releasing this gas into the air the natural greenhouse gases increase and cause many effects to happen. Carbon dioxide is also caused by removing natural resources from the land for agriculture. When the Earth starts to warm many other things do to, the ocean will become more acidic and glaciers might partially melt. If the oceans become acidic, fish and other sea creatures will have an unlivable environment. If glaciers start to melt arctic animals that rely on the ice may start to become extinct.
One of the biggest cause has been the exhaust gasses. The climate change has some effects on the ocean. One of the most well-known affects would be the melting of ice. Due to the climate change the temperature rises, because of this, masses of glaciers and ice sheets are melting. The melting of the glaciers and the ice sheets brings several affects.
There can also be many causes in disruption of habitats and this can lead to many animal species to extinction. Global warming is a rise in the surface temperature of the earth. The issues that cause Global warming are divided into two categories natural and human influences. There are some natural reasons why Global warming is occurring. The climate has continuously
These gases retain heat on earth thus increasing the temperature above average. Different gases have dissimilar abilities to trap heat. Deforestation is also another important reason for global warming. Plants release oxygen and take in carbon, thus providing us a clean and healthy environment. But by deforesting the lands, the trees would emit the carbon stored in them from hundreds of years making the air impure.
I agree with the assertion that in the context of Sustainable Development ‘the reality of life today is that the economy dominates environment and society. The Concept of Sustainable Development Sustainable development refers to “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs”, and was produced by the Brundtland report (WCED, 1987). The concept also takes into account the needs of the poor in developing countries by outlining achievable objectives of importance (WCED, 1987).
Climate change is the most rising issue of the modern world that is threatening our planet from the last few decades. In the simplest definition, the term climate change refers to the rising of the planet’s temperature, particularly an increase in the average atmospheric temperature. It should be noted that in the last few decades, many scientists and ecologists has discovered the Earth temperature is increasing at an alarming rate and has affected the planet in numerous of way. The constant change in the climate due to various causes is threatening the preservation of the Earth and its human life. It should be noted that the climate change is linked with several of the human activities that are further directed towards the global warming.
Sustainable development is a model that aims to link the idea of what is to be sustained, with what is to be developed, and focuses on three pillars, economics, social and environmental (Kates, Parris, and Leiserowitz, 2005; pp. 3). As a holistic approach it seeks to develop the three pillars, on a local, regional and global level. This paper will analyse the concept of sustainable development and the strengths and weaknesses of this approach will be discussed. Firstly, a background of this model will be presented, which will explore the three pillars. Secondly, the strengths and weaknesses will be evaluated, and lastly, a brief contrast will be provided of the opinions of sustainable development between the Global North and Global South.
Researches show that the average temperature of the planet has been changed during the last decades, as a result, many problems join with it and climate change is considered as the biggest problem around the world. Climate change is one of the results of global warming and it has so many negative disadvantage impacts on earth, including; increasing the events of natural
Kahn’s (1995) approach to the sustainable development theory is consistent with the modern day development techniques of Europe 2020 priorities; smart growth, sustainable growth and inclusive growth. The adoption of some innovative strategies such as the utilisation of renewable energy as an integral part of the energy mix could result in growth of the economy, which will eventually trickle down to the poor or extend to the rural or disadvantaged areas of the country. The social sustainability generally explains the idea of equity among the people, empowerment, participation, accessibility and institutional stability. It seeks to ensure a good standard of living in the country by alleviating poverty. Environmental sustainability seeks to explain the ways in which exploitation and utilisation of the natural resources will not be made to negatively affect the environment or the health of human beings (Kahn 1995).
