SWOT Analyse Strengths Nokia as a whole has some great strengths to its name, but these strengths were let down by poor management. I’m going to talk about the strengths of it which are as flows: it was the first company to produce a telephone call and mobile device. It made strong and durable and very reliable mobile phones that a lot of people in the 90s nicknamed the blokia which in one way is a massive strength for the company as it then reassured people of its build quality and that it would last. Nokia become world leader in 1998 with its spectacular nokia 6100, they beat Motorola and became the world’s top cellular phone that year and part of its success that year was because they pushed the limits on what could be done on phones with …show more content…
This had a massive effect on the Nokia and affected the company’s portfolio, But sadly from here on in Nokia just had a string of problems and in 2008 Android was launched as a competitor the Nokia’s Symbian platform. All of Nokia’s reveals such as Samsung and HTC all bought in android and that was the start of a land slide for Nokia’s sales. Through the next few years with the rise of iPhone nokia continued to decline and more and more jobs were been lost. Many saw the company hiring a non-finish CEO for the first time as a weakness as he couldn’t understand nokia as the brand that produced high quality phones. With Nokia going from bad to worse they decided that a partnership with Microsoft would be the way to get out of this decline but due to the boring and same budget built phones the Lumia’s which were produced caused more of a problem then a solution for the struggling company. In the end nokia’s biggest weakness was them self not embracing the fast and changing pace of new technology and other phones coming to the market that were more innovative and just couldn’t embrace the smartphone revolution that …show more content…
First of all – growth markets, Nimbuzz has more than 150 million users and Nokia could expand their market further while working with this company. While Apple and Samsung phones are in the lead, Nokia is somewhere behind, but there are some features of Nokia phones that could definitely compete with leading phone companies. For example, high quality camera. Nokia can improvise on it. Nokia Lumia 1020 has one of the best camera features on the market. The range of options and different effects of that camera are truly impressive. The Nokia Lumia 1020 has 41-megapixel camera and takes pictures and videos like no other phones out there. Colours and quality of photographs are amazing. High-resolution zoom is other great feature to mention. Also, you can reframe, crop and rotate pictures in any way you desire. For some reason Lumia 1020 is not as popular as people would expect, having such an amazing high quality camera it is still behind Apple and Samsung phones which is disappointing because cameras of IPhones and Samsung Galaxy are not even close to Lumia 1020. After the research I found out that people who purchased Nokia Lumia 1020 where extremely happy with the phone in general. I suppose the lack of advertisement and promotion would be one of the reasons this phone wasn’t successful enough. Nokia phones should be considered
The United Sates v. Microsoft anti trust case was based on the United Sates Justice Department’s assertion that Microsoft was monopolizing the software industry and making it too difficult for competitors to engage in the industry. Specifically, they were focused on the fact that Microsoft included software for their own web browser, Internet Explorer, with the purchase of each Microsoft PC. The plaintiff claimed that this was unfair to competing web browsers such as Netscape. The Justice Department had already had issues with Microsoft’s business practices prior to the 1998 anti trust case.
New entrants to the marketplace pose a very low threat to Verizon. The cost of establishing a wireless company and building a network that can compete with a low-budget carrier, much less an industry behemoth such as Verizon, is substantial. Verizon has been around since the early days of the industry and has spent years building its name. It is unlikely that a new company can arrive on the scene and clear the necessary hurdles to compete with Verizon.

Blackberry SWOT analysis: The strengths of blackberry are that it has strong brand recognition worldwide and it has 76 million loyal users. Another, blackberry app store has a decent amount of applications and RIM is the best smartphone in terms of security. The weaknesses of blackberry are the multimedia functions, compared to other smartphones since there isn’t FM radio. Blackberry is also very dependent on government and corporate contracts which isn’t a guarantee for them and not long term.
Samsung implements the strategy of “ Red Ocean;” which shows that a firm gains competitive advantage by venture into the current market and constructing on the weaknesses of other competitors in the field of similar products. Thus, Samsung“floods the market with many products” which are made by other companies within short duration of time ( Travos,2002). It seems that Samsung made these new products through developing many of manufacturing products of its Smartphones. However, such attitude is considered to be as a massive cost advantage over other firms that make such product. Samsung has improved its “competition position internationally through developing its present competitive strategies” , through depending on the other manufacturers`

Introduction Conflict is unpleasant, but inevitable throughout life. In any situation involving two or people, conflict may arise. Conflict can be defined as, “any situation in which incompatible goals, cognitions, or emotions within or between individuals or groups lead to opposition or antagonistic interaction” (Learning Team Toolkit, 2004, pp 242-243). People come from different backgrounds and live through different life experiences therefore, even when working towards a common goal, they will not always agree. Globalisation is a key factor in today’s modern society with it spreading to even the most remote and poverty ridden continents of the world. It shows how something as simple as a mobile phone can help spread this on a global scale. Africa is the world’s poorest continent with people earning from 75p to £1.50 a day, after taking a closer look and researching into mobile phone use in Cape Town, Zanzibar and The Gambia it shows how local people’s lives are being changed due to the use of a mobile phone.
