The first Lowe 's store, which was Lowe 's North Wilkesboro Hardware, was first opened in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina in 1921 by Lucius Smith Lowe. Lucius Lowe died in 1940 and the business was then inherited by his daughter Ruth Lowe. Ruth sold the company to her brother Jim Lowe. Jim took on Carl Buchan as a partner in 1943. Buchan predicted the dramatic increase in construction after World War II, and the two partners decided that the store should only focus on hardware and building materials.

Ford, an American automobile manufacturer, was the creator of the Model T, but was not the first to create a gasoline engine powered automobile (“Henry Ford”). Both men were important people in American History, however, with this information and more, I believe Ford should be placed behind Bell at number twenty-five on The Top 100 list in “They Made America”(64). Although we know Henry Ford as the amazing creator of the Model T, did he really give us the first automobile? At times, I have heard students mention that Henry Ford is the all encompassing creator of the first automobile, but that is not the case. Yes, Ford created the Model T and other versions of what he believed a car should be, but he was not the father of the first automobile.
I faced challenges adjusting into diverse student community from across India and heavy coursework but the contentment of learning fundamentals of chemical engineering from some of the best faculty of India acted as an anchor amidst all the confusion. To comprehend these fundamentals I took up industrial training for a duration of two months in \textbf{Vizag steel plant} a public sector company. During this training, I saw discrete peices of knowledge I obtained till then fit together like cogs in a wheel to ensure smooth operation of plant. This experience reinvigorated my interest for the field of chemical engineering. For my final year thesis I worked with \textbf{Prof.

I am very grateful for all of my past opportunities and experiences I had within the fields of engineering and technology. If I am fortunate enough to get accepted into this program, I would leverage these experiences and my passion to strengthen my engineering skill-set and deepen my understanding of STEM. Every day my engineering and technology interests continue to grow, whether it’s from a TV commercial from General Electric or a lesson from my Computer Aided Design (CAD) class. It is for these reasons that I believe I would be a great participant for the Engineering and Technology Governor’s
Henry Ford was one of the most important figures in America’s industry. He was born on July 30, 1863 close to Dearborn, Michigan. At 13, his father gave him a pocket watch which he took apart and reassembled. It is important that there are people entering the workforce with this knowledge. In the future, I would love to work in IT because I believe it is a growing industry, and it is something I find comes naturally to me.
