In Kant’s ethics “good will” refer to doing the right things is the right thing to do irrespective of consequence. SanLu milk powder was contaminated with the toxic chemical melamine, which is cheap in price and contained highly protein that could cause kidney stones or acute renal failure. The company is not doing a good will, the milk powder are harmful to the babies. To earn more profit the producers reduce the produce cost and reduce the production materials. They added the melamine which increases in protein level and is a kind of chemical materials. Sanlu’s vice-president apologized to the public after two babies who had consumed Sanlu’s tainted milk power died of kidney failure. Although the Chinese government was able to stop the further spread of the contamination, this action should not be acceptable for everyone. Millions of people each day go to the store and purchase meat, produce, and medicine, without worrying if it’s safe, or whether it may be contaminated with things like paint stripper or cocaine. Prior to 1906, there was no organization to monitor whether or not any food or drug contained what it said, let alone if it was safe to be consumed. Even though legislation wouldn’t come for many more years, research into food safety dates all the way back to 1862 when scientist Charles M. Wetherill, who worked for the Department of Agriculture, began testing samples of food for purity. Wetherill’s first project focused on the alcohol content in wine but later led to him and other scientists focusing on problems such as contaminated milk from cows with
This is driving some farmers out of business. This also leads to a lower social class with no silver to survive (Doc. 3). Document 5 tells us how the lower class in China is suffering because of the dominance of silver. They used to be able to buy things by making “in-kind” purchases (trading goods for goods). Now they must pay with silver.
To address this a panel was formed consisting of executives from Nestle, Craft and Heinz etc. to provide valuable insight into food products. The distinction between right and wrong has been a matter of discussion for centuries, whether expressed through philosophical essays, social organisation or artistic creation. Deontological ethics is a philosophical theory which dissects acts into right and wrong on the basis of the adherence of an act to a specific rule. One of the many formulations of deontology is Kantianism, a view introduced by Immanuel Kant, which argues that the basis for morality are motives for one’s action rather than the consequences of it and searches a justification for one’s duty to behave in a certain manner. One of the critiques or counter positions of Kant’s ethics is Sartrean existentialism as it denies the possibility of an absolute moral system and focuses on the individual morality rather than social one and bases on one’s commitment to his chosen values. Yet drawing parallels between the two positions is far from impossible, despite Sartre’s strong opposition to Kantian moral theory.

What about the scene in which a mother sets down two cold, healthy glasses of milk for her children to drink and they proceed to consume the delicious refreshment in mere seconds, leaving nothing but an adorable, frothy moustache above their top lip. Unbeknownst to this mother, and the 93% of Great Britain who drink cow’s milk, she has just handed her children a glass teeming with hormones, steroids, pesticides, and antibiotics. The dairy industry has spent copious amounts of money over many decades supporting the idea that milk is essential

• In China, government regulation and policies regarding food products are very strict due to various food safety scandals in recent years. All biscuit manufacturers have to reach the state standard requirements for quality, packaging etc. (IBISWorld, 2010). In order to meet the tightened regulatory requirements on food quality and environment protection, this would require huge investment in stringent quality and hygiene control measures for new entrants (Euromonitor, 2014). • Existing competitors that have achieved economies of scale in production has an advantage over new entrants in terms of the burdening of overall expenditures
