In youth generations, teens are more sensitive to things, since they are learning who they are. Family plays a big role in a person’s life; if a person’s upbringing was negative, they’ll most likely have this negative view of the world, though it’s not true for everyone. Youth culture is just as important for young people since this culture is where they learn how to be and how to feel. Like in today’s youth culture, it all revolves around what is trending on the internet and who’s doing what. Lastly, society, which is many times perceived as negative by young people; thanks to songs and media, sometimes they don’t feel like they fit in with the standards that are set by
A new generation brings in a new, different culture. And somehow, it goes from different to rebellious. The adult American society will often look at the youth subculture’s homology: their choice of clothes, music, dance, and their overall lifestyle, and they will just begin to form these “personality conflicts” (O’Connor 412). If adults, more specifically parents, begin to have better understanding of why their subculture is often so different, then they will be able to relate to and raise “better” teenagers. This does not mean that every elder and adult has to embrace youth culture, but there should be an attempt to have a better understanding of it.
In Generations of Southeast Asian Youth: Assimilation, Styling and (Racial) Profiling by Pao Lee Vue he explains the hardships and unnoticed parts of American Southeast Asians. He tells when they came to this country how some of their cultural standards got them harassed constantly. Because the Southeast Asian immigrants were typically poor when they immigrated to the United states it caused them to move into the slums of the country. There the kids of the immigrants had adapted an american life style. So when they were buying nice shoes but their cultural customs had them leave it outside people would steal them.

There are many things in the world that could make a society better. Many people look down on some adults because they don’t think that kids and young people could make a difference in society. They laugh when a young person say that we want to make a difference because we have to stereotype that we just go out and smoke, take drugs, and never want to pay attention to the society. Many grown ups do not think that kids cant do it, they just want their kids to be normal and go to school just like the other kids. Young people came make a change in society by their Jobs, Community Services, and voting.
Fashion can find expression and be coded by materially and visually in forms of color, shape, texture and branding, and must be created and spread inside cultural fields combining local and global systems. Fashion is not just a social practice concerning clothing and address. It is more of an expressive sensibility favoring novelty and individuality, which energizes facets of both monetary production and personal consumption.
Fashion is my method of self-expression. The clothes we choose to wear gives us control over how others perceive us and affects how we feel about ourselves. From wearing black at the Golden Globes in support of the Time’s Up movement to the traditional Chinese Qi Pao, clothes can show solidarity without words or act as a way for us to connect to our cultural heritage. This is why fashion is important to me, because it allows me to tell a story about who I am and who I aspire to be. I have chosen to further my Management studies at the London College of Fashion because the MA Fashion Design Management covers themes essential for managing a successful fashion brand, which has always been a dream of mine.
