Edmund Kemper/David Berkowitz The murder cases of Edmund Kemper and David Berkowitz have many differences and a surprising number of similarities. These two cases can be compared and contrasted by looking at how they both had a violent childhood, they both used a gun to kill their victims, and they were both found guilty on many counts of murder. Edmund Kemper Edmund Kemper was a serial killer that was born on December 18th, 1948 in Burbank California. During his early years of his life, Kemper was a troubled child.
Simmons first trial lasted six hours and he was convicted May 12, 1988. On May 16, 1988 the judge sentenced Simmons to death by “lethal injection” , plus 147 years. Simmons was found guilty of fourteen counts of murder in the deaths of his family. After questioning followed with some evidence Simmons lashed out at a man by the name of Bayum, punching him in the face, and struggling to get a deputy’s handgun. Simmons was dragged out of the courtroom in chains and on May 16, 1988 Simmons was sentenced to death by lethal injection, Simmons began to waive all his rights to appeal.
Jared Fogle is serving a 15-year sentence for child porn and sex crime charges, he was attacked and left bloodied by a fellow inmate in the prison yard on January 29. According to documents obtained by TMZ, another inmate confronted the 38-year-old in a yard at the Federal Correctional Institute in Englewood, Colorado before “unloading a barrage of punches." Documents report that “[Steven] Nigg, who’s in for a weapons charge, left Fogle with a bloody nose, swollen face and scratches on his neck.”
One lady by the name of Elena Estrada went by the nickname as “ heartbreaker “. Elena had been sentenced to seven years, for stabbing her unfaithful lover and opening up his chest then cutting out his heart and through his heart at his face. A male inmate with the name of Frank Leslie went by the name “ fast gun “. He shot his girlfriend in a drunken rage and a man in a gang, then later on he became a model inside the Yuma prison. Another man named Barney K Riggs goes by the name of “ Hero of the Gates Riot “.
The last few weeks in Maycomb County, led a stir of emotions in the town, regarding to Tom Robinson’s case. Tom was convicted of sexually assaulting Bob Ewell’s oldest daughter, Mayella. When the jury made a decision, Tom ended up guilty, and charged to jail. A couple days later, bam! Tom was shot seventeen times in the back and put to death.
A CASE OF WARTIME RAPE AND MURDER This paper will be concerned with a crime involving U.S. Army soldiers, which took place on March 12, 2006 in the midst of the war in Iraq. Five soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division (Steven Green, Jesse Spielman, James Barker, Paul Cortez, and Bryan Howard) entered a home in the town of Mahmudiya, where they took turns raping a 14-year old girl while holding her parents and younger sister at gunpoint in a different room. Following the rape, they shot and killed the girl along with her family members. They then poured kerosene over the girl’s body and set in on fire in an attempt to conceal the evidence (Von Zielbauer, 2006).
The one teacher jumped on the lap of the other teacher, taking a bullet that would have hit the other teacher in the head. That same teacher who was shot was able to pull the fire alarm to save other lives. Almost three years ago to the day, another gunman open fired during a screening of “The Dark Knight Rises.” On July 19, 2012, in the Aurora, Colorado theater, James Holmes used an AR 15 rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun, and at least one 40-caliber handgun.
This morning, 58 people were killed and 515 people were injured in a shooting for a music festival on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. It is considered the deadliest shooting in American history. There was said to be a combination of rifles and handguns at the crime scene, and more than 19 weapons in the room. In the wake of the shooting, the Las Vegas Police Department said authorities responded to a room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel, where police said the suspected gunman, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, was dead. Police said they believe Paddock killed himself prior to police entry.
Amityville took place in the 1970’s. “My parents have been shot!” Screamed Ronald Defeo bursting into Harry 's Bar on the night of November 13, 1974. Ronald was found guilty for the murder of his parents and four younger siblings. Today he is 64 and still is in jail.
On December 2nd, an incident happened in San Bernardino that shocked the nation. Although, we see a shooting on the news almost daily, the 2015 San Bernardino shooting that killed fourteen people and harmed twenty-two others still took America to a shock. The shooting consisted of two people, who happened to be married and had a six-month-old child, went into a mental hospital facility and opened fire on the patients and staff that worked or lived there. The male of the couple happened to work for the hospital but nobody knows the motive behind why the couple did what they did.
On October 1st a gunman opened fire on a crowd at a concert at the Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas, NV. The shooter was a 64 year old named Stephen Paddock, an accountant from Clinton, Iowa. With 58 people were killed and 546 were injured, it was deemed the deadliest domestic shooting in the United States. Singer Jason Aldean was giving the closing performance on the final day of the festival, just before 10 PM.
