There are many different styles and forms of poetry. There are sonnets, elegies, couplets, and many other types. Each one can have a different rhyme scheme, theme, meter, or different poetic techniques. These techniques keep the reader continue reading. The poet does not usually write what people want to hear, it can be a way to get thoughts on paper in poetic form. Poetry is found in music, like figurative language and rhyme scheme. Poetry is a great way of expression, and one example of a great poet is Sylvia Plath. Plath was born on October 27, 1932, in Boston, Massachusetts. It is not as short, with six stanzas. As usual, the stanzas consist of three lines. Also like the other poems, she uses personification, metaphors, similes, and hyperboles to convey the message. For example, in stanza five, she says, “It will cover a dynasty,” which is a hyperbole. The poem is about a loved one, because there are references like “The smile of iceboxes annihilates me. Such blue currents in the veins of my loved one!” Like most of Plath’s poems, there is no rhyme scheme. Meter is not used as well. “All Appearance” is a poem about love by Sylvia Plath.
