Patterns of social behavior are usually consistent over certain periods of time under certain conditions. When the appropriate social theory is applied, the reality in the social realm is likely to be predicted. From that understanding, any phenomena involving human beings can easily be explained by the employment of social science. When for example a case of sexual harassment occurs in prison, a simple general explanation can be provided. A social scientist can posit that the continued lack of access to a sexual partner causes seeking of alternatives and diversions in fellow inmates. Thus, such information can be used in future predictions of the likelihood of such behavior reoccurring. Measures such as conjugal visits, close monitoring …show more content…
The theory offers crucial insights regarding the conduct of a community or society. As such, the behavior of people can be predicted by studying the shared emotions, ideas, motives, and experiences. The symbolic convergence helps social scientists construct theories and forecasts. The meanings in a community shape the values, virtues, customs and code of conduct among members of that community. The result is that in turn, each acts in a predictable way as per the expectations of that particular culture. Any deviation from such norms is received with expected reactions. Objection, opposition, and characteristics rejection of deviation and deviants are exhibited. The deviant also develops self-conscious behavior as a result of their social revolt. Defensiveness, aggressiveness, self-alienation or such separatist behavior is expected (Ritzer and Goodman 2008). Thus, a social scientist can construct a stage or phases development of a person’s behavior forecast on that basis. The prediction, in turn, can be used in the control of such behavior. Events and experience shape the eventual behavior …show more content…
When such is clearly elucidated, the shared consciousness is understood and explained in isolation before any qualification or application is done. The other phase is the illustration of the pattern direction of group consciousness. The onset, rise, and sustenance of such behavior continues to grow and thrive thus understanding the motivation behind it would be critical. The universal symbiotic reality is then explained using a preexisting theory such as the attribution theory. From that point, future tendency to act in such a way can be predicted and easily forecasted. Preparations for addressing such issues and possibilities are then made. Uneasiness in industrial workers and resulting patterns of strikes, go-slows, and other confliction union actions can be predictably resolved. Labor social scientists have been hired and used in addressing pro longed strikes and union wars with employees. Such issues have involved salaries, working rates, environments and other work related

INTRODUCTION Have you ever thought on how people explain about behaviour? How do we know when learning process has occurred? Learning is permanent change that happened in the way of your behaviour acts, arises from experience one’s had gone through. This kind of learning and experience are beneficial for us to adapt with new environment or surrounding (Surbhi, 2018). The most simple form of learning is conditioning which is divided into two categories which are operant conditioning and classical conditioning.
Describe the role of situational and dispositional factors in explaining behavior The roles of situational and dispositional factors in explaining behavior could be explained using the attribution theory where attribution is the process of interpreting and explaining behavior and how people try to use these factors to do this . Situational factors refer to external influences such as who you surround yourself with, social norms, the situation and the weather while dispositional factors are about internal factors such as your personality, attitude and beliefs . In explaining behavior these factors can either be combined as one explanation or used separately to determine the cause of one’s actions.
