Women's Suffrage Movement has taught many students about the importance of gender equality and how women deserve the same rights and benefits that a man is given. Women in the 1900’s worked with abolitionist to get their rights they deserved. Susan B. Anthony, a major women’s rights activist, contributed a role in this movement as well as Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Susan and Elizabeth both teamed up and created the National American Woman Suffrage Association.
Women should have the rights to educate themselves or have importance in a political view. Mary Wollstonecraft wanted to empower female equality during the seventeenth century because she was driven by independence and knowledge. Mary Wollstonecraft explained well that youth and beauty does not last a lifetime; furthermore, Wollstonecraft wanted women to drive women to go to school to have more knowledge than to be narrow minded. Adichie 's intended audience would be someone who simply may wonder “Why should we be feminist?”, or anyone who wants to listen. Adichie interprets some effective rhetorical strategies like allusions, and a few analogies throughout the talk. Her humorous tone and anecdotes gave the audience that sense of trust and their laughter let her know that they were really engaged into her topic. She effectively described why she thinks we all should be feminists and how the world would be fairer for men and women.
Sojourner Truth emphasizes that every woman is defined through the idea that they are truly born as a woman. It means that even if she participates in masculine behaviors, it will never change that fact the she is a woman. In her speech “Ain’t I a Woman?”, she addresses the issue of unfair treatment to women of color. This connects to the idea of intersectionality because she was born having multiple identities such as being a woman, black, and from lower class. As what we learned from the lecture discussion 3, intersectionality plays a huge role in the creation of oppression among one individual because the constructed multiple identities of each individual interact to one another to create inequality.
Malala wrote I am Malala to introduce her life to the world and how women all around the world do not obtain basic human rights. Now that she’s a well known figure, Malala Yousafzai will not stop advocating the importance of education. Malala utilizes various rhetorical strategies such as pathos, imagery, and juxtaposition to convey her message that education is a basic human right to both men and women. There are very few moments in peoples’ lives where they have the opportunity to do something that may actually affect change. While learning about the Romantic Era, I was introduced to a woman, by the name of Mary Wollstonecraft, who harnessed that rare moment when she wrote her manifesto: A Vindication of the Rights of Women; kick-starting the revolution of women’s rights. Her advocation for women’s rights to education equality lead to what we now know and are capable of today. This Humanities class has reinforced my beliefs that the social, political, legal, and economic rights of women equal to that of men is integral to the growth of our society. I will prove this using examples from Mary Wollstonecraft’s manifesto, quotations taken from Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, and my own experiences in life.

Anthony, a school teacher that dedicated her life on supporting the women’s movement. Susan B. Anthony played a vital role in the equality between men and women whose work changed the course of history between the two genders; her knowledge and dedication in the suffrage drove her way to rebel against inequality. Susan Brownell Anthony was born on February 15, 1820 in Adams, Massachusetts. Her parents were Daniel Anthony, who worked as an operator in a textile mill before it came crashing down in 1837, and Lucy Read, a mother of six who stayed home to cook and clean.
In the “Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions,” Elizabeth Cady Stanton talks about how women have been oppressed since the beginning of time and the resolutions that need to be made in the government, so that women receive the rights they are entitled to. As a women in the U.S., I am very thankful for this speech and the author. Without the creation of this speech maybe American women would have never received the right to vote or to reach their full potential. While I read this eloquent piece of literature, I find that I share a common point of view with it. For example, it states that,”All men and women are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights.” I believe women and men need to coexist together in equality.
They should know how to read and be exposed to the world around them to be good examples to their children and be better companions for their husbands. Women should be educated, but refined and submissive and understand that their education was to help them fulfill their roles as mothers and not to seek a role beyond the home. The education of wealthy white women generally focused on academic learning, good manners, and fine arts to suit their class position. They often attended boarding schools or at least private schools. “A well-known southern magazine DeBow’s Review extolled the numerous benefits of women’s education, ‘The effect has been to improve their minds and manners without robbing them of the extreme delicacy and refinement for which they have always been distinguished.’” (McMillen 94).
Wollstonecraft’s feminist view discusses that the problem was not only men inhibiting women, but women themselves were also not pushing against the ideology that men were superior. She continues to explain her new feminist ideology that discusses changes in society that would create equality.
