INTRODUCTION This essay about the roles the Business and System Analysts serve in the conception , analysis, design, development, implementation, benefits realization and maintenance of information system. The Business Analyst is someone who is a part of the business operation and works with Information system to improve the quality of the services being delivered, sometimes assisting in Integration and Testing of new solutions. They focus more on what must be done by the business to solve the problem. Business analyst is customer facing and spends their time in the problem domain, gathering information from the business community, analyzing information to produce the solution. More importantly , it is essential for the requirements to be understood. Business and System Analysts have to follow these processes so as to do their job efficiently 1 Conception Business Analyst needs to first understand the project history or a problem and the existing systems to have a reasonably clear picture of the current state that needs to change. A detailed investigation of the system is made by the analyst and then make a proposal which list the problem definition, objectives, constraints, expected benefits of a new system ,etc. Cost benefit analysis,, risk management plan and feasibility study is done in this stage by the analyst. 2 Analysis Analysis involves identification of the business problem and opportunities, and assessment and validation of potential and actual solution. Business Analyst collect data and recommend feasible suggestions for improving the system functioning. This involve studying the business processes and understanding the information flow. 5 Implementation Before actually implementing the new system into operation, a test run is done and if the new system is accepted by the users, then the implementation of a system begin and resolution of problems. 6 Benefit realization An analyst has to evaluate the actual progress made and the opportunities opened because of the new implemented product/solution. Benefit analysis need to be done. 7 Maintenance After the implementation of the system, an analyst needs to describe how to operate and maintain the information system. System analyst continuously monitors the system to eliminate errors in its working life CONCLUSION The Analysts play a key role in information systems development projects and serve as agents who identify the organization improvement. Without analysts systems would be installed without proper planning, leading to user dissatisfaction and system not used.
