According to nationaltacoday.com, Americans ate over 4.5 billion tacos last year alone. That is enough tacos to stretch over 490,000 miles, and could take you all the way to the moon and back. 4.5 million tacos also is the weight equivalent to, not just one, but two Empire State buildings. If you’re a fan of Mexican food, then buckle up because I am going to tell you about a multimillion dollar company that is not strictly located in the U.S., but is in 26 other countries. The selection ranges from tacos, to burritos, to quesadillas to salads, and even to desserts! This may seem like a taco overload, so let’s just take a look at its best sellers. For instance, in the articles, it says that things are sometimes added to dishes, such as meat to Italian dishes or crispiness to tacos. These things can spawn from taboos, or just plain logic. For me, a true Mexican Taco consists of meat, corn tortillas, and condiments like onions, lime, cilantro, maybe chiles, and either a special green or red sauce (salsa). Now, you may ask, how did this famous dish came to be about? Well that’s where it becomes interesting; tacos were made as a way to make money in Mexico which lead to the spread of this cuisine from Latin American to the United States and caused a modification in the cuisine in order to fulfill other cultures in their preferences. For instance, I’ve visited Guerrero, Mexico twice; one time alone and the second time with my sister and my cousins. The first night I got to Mexico it was dark, and the only “stores” open at 8pm or 9pm were “Taquerias” or Mexican restaurants.
Abstract Chipotle Mexican Grill is a well-known company that deals with fast food and has made significant and distinctive progress compared to other companies in the fast food industry. The company not only prepares food in front of customers but also makes sure that food is made with integrity. The integrity is enhanced by finding, evaluating, and choosing the right ingredients, which are from animals, farmers, and the environment (chipotle.com). These are the principles that serve to direct and guide the organization and help position it as a leader in the industry.
With its mission statement of “Food with Integrity” Chipotle has seen success over the last decade. But with the increase of raw material input increasing, Competitors using pricing strategy to compete for its market share and the economic Chipotle is facing some though decision on if it should continue with its “Food with Integrity” which it can ill afford in these difficult times. In this paper, we will try address ways in which Chipotle can reposition its efforts to focus more on this unique offering without affecting their “Food with Integrity” Concept. By doing so, we believe that it can capture the important and growing segment of customers who are the health-conscious, organic-friendly consumer.
Ray Kroc once said, “I believe in God, family, and McDonald’s. And in the office, that order is reversed.” In 1955, the man who stated this quote opened his first restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois which is now the largest fast food chain corporation in America known world wide as McDonald’s. In the quote the founder of Mcdonald 's underlined the stereotypical although true values of the American population and I agree with him and believe the act that exemplifies the most American action should bring together entertainment, family and good food while it has to be rooted in American culture and be possible to perform by anyone, anytime and almost anywhere. I believe that the most American thing you can do is to have a meal at the famous fast food restaurant called McDonald’s.
