Taye Selasi argument in where people identify themselves is based on answering the question where is one local than where are one is from. To answer the question of where one is from one must look at what shapes one's experiences because Selasi says “my experience is where I am from.” When someone ask me the question “where are you from?” The person wants to know what my nationality is due to my different skin tone or complexion.
