) Communication skills for teachers are as important as their depth in the knowledge of the particular subject they teach. A teacher should possess positive motivation, because in a class there would be students who have different kinds of taste and preferences over the subjects. Therefore it is the duty of the teacher to create interest in the minds of the students towards the subject. The lesson should be presented in a way that grabs the students’ attention maybe by using visuals therefore students would be enthusiastic to learn something new. The most important communication skill is to maintain an effective body language in class, this creates a long lasting impression in the minds of the students. One of which is to use eye contact while teaching so that the students are aware the teacher is watching them. While teaching the teacher should move around the class and make use of the space in order to be an authoritative presence in the classroom. When students misbehave in the class the teacher might increase the tone of her voice in order to gain control of the class. And it is also very important for a teacher to portray the right facial expressions according the situation. For example if a student is caught causing disturbances in the classroom while the lesson is going on the teacher might give a stern look to the student, so that the student understands that the teacher is angry at his behavior and that the teacher would punish him for his bad behavior. Likewise when a student has brought about a change in his or her behavior, the teacher should reward them therefore they are encouraged to be well behaved. A teacher could do by using a behavior chart to inculcate good behavior, if a student behaves well they get a red star on that chart and bad behavior leads to black star on the chart. This method is appropriate for primary students as they would be encouraged to have more red stars on the …show more content…
I have to pay attention to what they want to say so that if they are facing any problem I could help them out in it. I could improve a lot in my methods of teaching, since I teach Math’s certain lessons tend to become very boring for my students. To make it interesting is my duty, so that my students understand the lesson well. I could do so by using visuals like I did in my micro teaching session to make multiplication tables something fun to learn instead of just writing it on the
However, it is just as important to recognise and reward positive behaviour by those children who always behave well. By emphasising positive behaviour in the classroom and explaining why, e.g. “look at child X, who is listening well, as they always do”, we are encouraging this behaviour, as we recognise and praise the child for behaving well. This can then improve the behaviour of other children as it is promoting a positive role
The teacher should make sure that each student is involved in the lesson, ask process questions, open-ended questions, be patient when waiting for answers to these questions, and ultimately never say anything a kid can say. This method is something that I would like to implement in my future classroom. I know that it will take practice and perseverance, but it is something that I know I can
As a future teacher, I will always have good intentions for my students. I will recognize their abilities and encourage growth while having a positive approach. I will teach in a variety of ways that is beneficial to my students. If they are having difficulties learning the material, I will change my teaching strategies until progress is achieved. I will include every student; the quiet will be heard, the misunderstood will be redirected and the gifted will be rewarded.
For children and young people to develop positive relationships it is crucial for adults to model effective communication in the classroom. As a teacher or teaching assistant, you have the platform to facilitate social learning and lead by example. One of the main reasons why effective communication is important, is because it makes children feel happy and comfortable at school, and in your presence. Not only will this help children to thrive in a learning environment, but will also filter through to their lives at home and outside of school.
Reflecting on my educational and practical experiences, I appreciate the infinite influence that teachers have on children. I realise that children will take the skills and knowledge learnt in the classroom and use it throughout their lives. I know a teacher has to deal with many daily pressures and challenges, in the classroom. However, I feel I require the skills needed to deal with these challenges. As a teacher I hope not only to be an educator but a positive role model, whom the children can look up to and trust.
The following are important skills for good communication: • Being a good listener • Non-verbal communication • Just say enough – not too much or too little • Friendliness • Confidence • Empathy • Open-
During my group, I worked as a model of being polite, how to build relationship with others, how to respect others and so on. On one hand, I reinforced group members’ appropriate behaviors by using a scaling table to note their good performance and awarding group members who perform best, that is, group members who got the highest score in each session. On the other hand, I sat norms as well as punishment with group members at the beginning of the group and used punishment to avoid inappropriate and unexpected behaviors. Since most of group members aged 8 to 13, they were easily to break promises. Therefore, punishment was essential for regulating their behaviors and reminding them of their commitment, while positive reinforcement was also significant to raise their awareness of behaviors and facilitating proper behaviors.
What does writing mean to me? Writing means getting people engaged in your piece. It means people wanting to keep reading what you wrote. The biggest thing about writing to me is expressing your thoughts and letting your mind go. Using good word choice and having a strong voice in the writing is something that makes it good.
"Students ' ability to gain the teacher 's attention by behaving appropriately" (Tuckman & Monetti, 2011, p.466). "The key to Assertive Discipline is catching students being good: recognizing and supporting them when they behave appropriately and letting them know you like it, day in and day out" (Canter, n.d.). When a student displays appropriate behavior the teacher should recognize their action. By stating a positive comment, a student will continue to exhibit the desirable behavior.
According to Lewis (2009) in his book “Understanding Pupil Behaviour: Classroom Management Techniques For Teachers” mentioned that there are some effects if the teachers don’t know about the students’ characteristics such as stress and Post-Guru Syndrom. Stress happens when they feel unable to maintain an classroom in which students can get on with their work and teachers can teach without unnecessary interruption, it is usually part of failure teacher in managing the classroom misbehavior of students and Post-Guru Syndrom happens when the teachers become inconsistent to implement the appropriate technique in teaching for students and finally

It is necessary for a teacher to have the students organized and transitions smoothly, but all the other little details, if thought of, help to make for a great lesson. And, it is up to each of us to learn to communicate well with those who are important to us.
There are certain said and unsaid rules and regulations that teacher and student follow. For example the student is aware that he or she has to give respect to the teacher and they know that there is a certain way they have to sit in class while being taught or for that matter standing up from their places greeting the teacher when they enter the class. The teacher knows that there is a particular way to address the class or help a student out. The teacher knows that the only way she or he can efficiently convey information or instructions is if the students are able to understand him or her thus it is very important for a mutual understanding to be established between them. These are all considered as symbols of
