language teaching has changed rapidly in the last twenty years, but in Vietnam the teaching of English has been far from satisfactory. For quite a long time there have not been any contacts with the teaching and learning of English outside Vietnam, and only recently some groups of teachers have been sent to abroad to study. Thanks to the aid of some international organizations and countries, the teaching of English has improved, but chiefly at universities and colleges where English is taught by groups of foreigner lectures. At schools, the situation remains unchanged. This is because of different reasons including unsuitable textbooks, inadequate teaching and learning facilities, but one of the most important factors is unqualified teaching …show more content…
So far, many scholars have attempted to define teacher professional development in terms of a high-quality, meaningful and effective teacher enhancement. According to Bolam (1993) teacher professional development refers to “any professional development activities engaged in by teachers which enhance their knowledge and skills and enable them to consider their attitudes and approaches to the education of children, with a view to improve the quality of the teaching and learning process.” From the view of teachers’ commitment, Glatthorn (1995) asserts that teacher professional development is what a teacher attains as a result of obtaining experience and exploring his or her teaching systematically. Looking at external factors, Horsley (1996) defines teacher professional development as “opportunities offered to educators to develop knowledge, skills, approaches and dispositions to improve their effectiveness in their classrooms and …show more content…

My Reflection of Real Talk for Real Teachers Real Talk for Real Teachers written by Rafe Esquith has been thought provoking as well as entertaining to read. I have learned a great deal from reading this book and I hope to implement a few of his ways in my future classroom. I can relate too many of the stories that have been told in this book because this is real life in a school environment. I would like to break my summary down chapter by chapter.
Reflecting on my educational and practical experiences, I appreciate the infinite influence that teachers have on children. I realise that children will take the skills and knowledge learnt in the classroom and use it throughout their lives. I know a teacher has to deal with many daily pressures and challenges, in the classroom. However, I feel I require the skills needed to deal with these challenges. As a teacher I hope not only to be an educator but a positive role model, whom the children can look up to and trust.
All skills apart from the academic ones which are important to being a good teacher and demonstrates my willingness to go the extra mile. Studying and working in education has shown me that it is a challenging and rewarding career, but I believe my track record of dedication and hard work in both elements suggests that I can meet its demands. My commitment to providing a first-rate education for any child has seen me strive to gain as many additionally useful skills as
CHAPTER 1The Problems and its BackgroundIntroductionA special education teacher works with exceptional children and young people who have special needs because of physical or learning problems. Special education teachers may also work with exceptionally gifted pupils with special educational needs. These special children touch in distinguishing all levels of need and are accountable for creating a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment for special need children. Some individual would choose to become special education teacher for several reasons. Some make the conclusion because they had a linkage with someone who had disabilities as they were growing up, while others choose the career because they feel they have a mission in
I am pursing a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I am passionate about education and excited to share the joy of learning with students. The perspective of wonder and sense of excitement that children bring into education motivates me daily. Teaching can leave a lasting impression in a child’s life and offers a special opportunity to shape the bright young minds of future generations. While many professions can be impactful, I believe the qualities of the person in the career position to be the most influential.
(1) Develop a strategy to enhance a high degree of collective efficacy among the new teachers and indifferents. What mastery experiences are needed, and how will you get them for your teachers? What kinds of models or other vicarious experiences should your teachers have, and where will they get them? What kind of activities will be useful to persuade teachers that they can improve the proficiency of their students? What kind of affective state is needed in your school to develop the collective efficacy that you need?
I can consider my professional development experience in two parts: Before I became a teacher and after I became a teacher. During my teacher education at university I used to imagine myself as the teacher of that lesson and I used to try to draw some tips for my future job. I observed my teachers’ way of teaching, their rapport with students and their reactions. I always commented on why or why not they behave in that specific way and search for examples to be applied in my future job as a teacher. I believe that these observations provided me with some valuable and conclusive clues for my job.
Rationale According to Armor (2011), teaching is a demanding, ever changing and people-based profession. Fransson, et al. (2009) states that to be knowledgeable and competent teachers who are aware of societal needs, they will have to engage in lifelong learning. Therefore, it is no surprise that a teacher’s development and success are dependent on their motivation and ability to reflect on their work (Armor, 2011).
This essay will explained the kind of teacher professional identity promoted by SACE and COTEP under the pillars of curriculum 2005 and NQF forming part of the white paper 1995 in redefining identity and difference in the education system after 1994 and it will also discuss how this identity did not and could not match the realities on the ground. Professionalism is the personal effort to act in a job that reveals fitting attitudes, behaviors and practices of the job. In teaching these attitudes may be: “having specialized knowledge which is the content knowledge and the ability to teach were teachers gain this on a lengthy period of higher education which is a four years to obtain the B ed degree were in the lengthy period teachers in the making learn to focus client interest maintaining a high level of responsibility learning and obtaining the ethical code of conduct” (SAIDE, 2010). By producing good quality results a teacher will be showing professional skills. Professionals require considerable freedom or autonomy to make judgments because they have to draw on knowledge based skills It is also showing that you believe in being professionally autonomous while accountable to the standards of you practice by having professional control over the credentials and the entry to teaching” ( SAIDE, 2010).
The teaching staff 's quality has a significant impact on the learners ' attainment (OECD, 2005). However, it has been widely debated that teachers ' education is not up-to-date since it makes no link to school practice and constant hands-on learning. In other words, teachers ' education does not enable the preservice teachers to apply the theories and knowledge they have learned in a real teaching context (Ramsey, 2000). Indeed, many student teachers in higher education and recent graduate preservice teachers argue that there is no sense of relevance between theoretical knowledge about teaching in their preservice courses at the university and teaching practice in real classroom settings. Despite the fact that student teachers are required to accomplish a teaching practice course in schools before graduation, a number of them is concerned with the insufficient time assigned for teaching experience.
Teachers are the life-blood of school districts across the United States. They are masters of their specific grade-level content and work tirelessly to manage the learning and well-being of their students. Teachers are the academic leaders of the learning environment within their classrooms and collaborate with their students throughout the year in order to facilitate learning, and foster creativity and problem solving. However, over the last thirty years, teacher leadership has taken on a whole new meaning.
