Abstract:

When teaching English at 8th Grade in SMPN 3 Gresik, the teacher found some problems in media especially in the apperception. Actually, the teacher gave technologically media because the class did not support it, some students are difficult to understand and implementing or make some sentences which appropriate with the pattern. Therefore, the teacher think that traditionally media is appropriate for that class; Flashcard and Realia as the media. They are very useful for students at 8th Grade in Junior High School because those are good

According to Herelland Jordan (2004), Realia are real things or concrete objects that are used in the classroom to build background knowledge and vocabulary. The step of Realia in teaching english, we can directly use a thing around us. That is why, By teaching English using realia, students are easy to memorize some words. Realia media are able to increase our vocabulary and speak fluently because the teacher give a learning with a real thing. You can use this media individually, in pair, or group. From those statements, realia is an alternative media which provides many advantages for teacher and for students. One of the advantages got from this media is giving classroom more interesting. Realia also supports students to be more creative and active. To provide real object, teacher can use many ways. She doesn’t only take a real object, but she can bring a picture of the object, miniature of the object, and also pointing some objects around students’ environment. There for, realia can be one alternative to give English teaching learning

They are: (1) The students will more effective. (2) It will create excitement, and they’ll have fun. (3) It will add some vocabularies and speak fluently. (4) The students can directly practice. (5) It is an cheap media. The step of Realia in teaching English, we can directly use a thing around us. For example, the material will be discuss about Give and respond Instruction, The teacher directly asks the students to make a sentence about Instruction as like Close the door, Open the door, put your pen, Please! and others, then asks them do a sentence that they have made, so the students will be interested in the subject matter. That is why, Realia is a good media because it is able to add their vocabulary. Besides that, it is able to help the students
