Dear, Team There are no words I have that can explain what it means to be part of a team. Since walking away from the NFL in April of 2008, I have been on an unplanned quest to fill an empty void of competition, team, and brotherhood. To this day, I believe there is nothing better than high school and college because my teammates (many of whom are are still my best friends today) were a group of like-minded, diverse, fearless competitors who constantly worked to be better for the person standing next to them. The effort that we all gave for each other created an environment and emotion that was bigger than each of us. Knowing that you are part of something greater that you, fueled our motivation to traverse the toughest obstacles. Many of these …show more content…
It wasn't until I made it to the highest level of competition, that I found the true value of team, brotherhood, and accountability to be so great. Although, I made it to the highest point, I found myself at some of my lowest lows. The highest level brought with it a feeling of emptiness, fueled by the vacancy of teamwork, like-mindedness and working not for yourself, but for the person next to you. When I left the NFL, I knew I wanted to be apart of something bigger than me. Something that would fuel that inner flame of success and team that I missed after high school and college. So I joined a school called University Heights Charter School and began that process. In retrospect, It was the best decision I made. Seven years later, and multiple mini journeys in-between, I found myself on another quest for fuel and team. So I joined the team called People's Prep Charter School. This journey, like most is unique, rewarding, and challenging. The journey as brought many highs and much learning opportunities. I want to thank each and every one of you for being apart of this team and working for the person next to you. We know the journey will not be easy. However, with hard work, teamwork, belief in each other, and a belief in the process, we will be better
As I stood there in the huddle after practice breathing heavily with sweat dripping from my body I listened as Coach Hegsted gave one of his motivational talks. He was talking about how we have no reason to hold anything back or wait for someone else to get the job done. As I stood there, with coach’s voice in the back ground, I thought to myself he is right this is probably going to be the last time I pad up with this group of guys and play with them. It was this day that I had learned a very valuable life lesson that I had never thought of before. I had played football every single year that I possibly could starting with that NYFL league in elementary.
In my last few years of Highschool football there was very few practice that I left feeling as happy as I did when I was younger. As life went on and I made it to middle school I found that football was not just fun because you were presented with the opportunity to knock the snot out of somebody, it was fun because everyday I had the chance to hangout with my closest friends. Now i'm not saying I loved everyone on the football team but I did get along with the majority of them. We made memories that will be with me for the rest of my life.
As a sports team, we obviously have goals; our main reason being to win against our opponents. The entire reason a team is put together and participating in practice almost every day is going towards our goal as a team to win games. Aside from our goal of winning our games, my volleyball team also worked our way to going to districts—where the top teams go to play against each other for the title of district champions. Then, if we were to make it past districts, we would participate in trying to win states—another tournament that multiple winners of different districts come together to compete against each other. Joining the volleyball team for me was for my personal enjoyment and to get involved in my high school community.
Being on a team is a special thing. It’s just like being a part of a family. I have been a member of the girl's varsity lacrosse team for four years. Many lessons have been learned from the wins, the loses, and the successes that our team has had in the past years.
I started to build connections with the coaches and the athletes there. I started to finally breakout socially. The sport brought great exercise and helped me organize my life. When I first started on the team it was four days a week every week all year. Then once my freshmen year started the schedule was changed to six days a week for two and a half hours after school every day.
I cannot express how much I have learned, and how much I have grown professionally as well as personally. My courage stems from the support of you all. Please visit me here while I am on the road, and perhaps you can see through my eyes. This journey is not for myself alone, but for us! Join me and travel the great United States, and see the wonders of the world.
In essence, teamwork can be defined as a group of people working in the same direction and for a common purpose. Teamwork requires individuals be a team player and to be able to work well with others; after all, there is no “I” in “Team”! As with any endeavour, we faced some initial setbacks. With this being our first college team assignment, we were all treading on unfamiliar territory.
At Team Andrews, we strive to ensure our firm’s success by focusing on our core competencies which include high customer awareness and accessibility. In the next round, Team Andrews will focus on steady growth through international expansion and cost reduction. Some of the issues that Team Andrews is currently facing include high cost structure primarily with sales and promotions expenditures and a lack of industry knowledge. Team Andrews did not align products with consumer buying criteria and had invested in areas that did not add the most value to the business. After realizing these mistakes that we had made for earlier rounds, Team Andrews has decided to pursue a new strategy by expanding our operations into the market in Mainland China.
Have you ever had a bad teammate in a game or a project? Do you consider yourself or wonder if you are a bad teammate? Well, these are things that make a good team member, so watch and learn! Teammates need to communicate well to get things done correctly, and to help do this efficiently, a team member must be open and willing to try new ideas. If teammates do not trust each other, one person may try to take it all into their hands, leading to stress and negative effects for everyone.
