Being a team player is all about psychology. There is no trainable "team playing" skill. The only thing we can do is a train player to understand the tactics of the game and the broader picture, reward them with praise when they do something for the team. Show them what impact they had on the game as a result - and then hopefully they will understand more that playing as a team player helps their team win. Just as in social life, some people tend to be self-centered. They will do just enough to help out but in the end will always try and do what is the best for themselves. Team building exercises may help, but in the end you cannot change a persons personality.

Characteristics of an effective team:
The characteristics of effective team include clear goals, relevant skills, mutual trust, good communication, negotiation skills and leadership skills.
For team building to be effective, managers had to find the problems they are facing in their teams. Then they can plan activities to address these challenges directly and make sure that the team will actually gain some benefits from the event. Keep competition out of the exercises, and aim to make team building.
The team building exercise, which I think help team in better communication in the office, as well as lets you get to know your coworker better, is two truths and a lie. This activity will take 15 to 30 minutes. Every team member had to write down two truths about himself ad one lie on a paper without revealing to anyone. Once everyone has written one can start with asking about other person its like a quiz. The whole idea is to convince other member that your lie is actually a truth, on the other side you try to guess other people truth or lies by asking them questions. After every one is finished gather in a circle and one by one repeat each on of your three statement and have the group vote which one they think is
