The Habitual Problems of Addiction to Technology Researchers say that, on average, people (teens, adults, children) spend roughly 10 hours a day on their phones or other technological devices. In today’s world, social media is a prime factor in many people’s unhealthy addiction to devices. Technology addiction is an uncontrollable urge to use devices such as phones, computers, or video game systems; this can affect toddlers in two ways including delayed speech and increase in ADHD. It can also affect teens and adults when it comes to distracted driving; people need their phone to answer calls on the go and a laptop to email their fellow co-workers. Today, many people believe that it is necessary to have these technological devices in their everyday lives. All in all, technology has been making a big impact into the everyday lives of most people all around the world, such as health problems, both mentally and physically, and can also lead to psychological problems which may cause issues such as depression and narcissism. Signs of technology addiction could also be how many hours spent on these devices. There should never be more time spent than needed on a phone or other device, and most definitely not gain a habit of looking everything up on the internet because that just shows laziness and then puts people in the position of “what would I do without my phone?”, and that is something no one should ever have to ask about themself.
