The world has increasingly become very dynamic and globalised. Globalization today provides a wide range of business opportunities and is responsible for the increased economic returns earned through integration across the world. Multinational companies and small scale businesses are all engaging in the trade without use of physical borders, this is referred to as the central concept of free trade. Globalisation is the development of business activities on an international level, which includes competition, markets and the increasing inter-dependence of global economies (Strydom, 2011). For instance, in the event that a manager or even employees cannot physically attend a meeting with their department or co-workers, they do not require a face to face meeting. They can use web conferencing to conduct the meeting, at any time, which is considered very convenient.
POSSITIVE EFFECTS OF TECHNOLOGY IN THE WORKPLACE:
Technology has improved efficiency and productivity in the workplace, the modern workplace has undergone a complete shift. The influence of technology has led to the optimisation of time management. The managers and employees productivity have been both been improved. The use of technology has led managers to place more importance on quality and creativity which will yield better and faster results.
Secondly technology has improved cost management by managers. The goal of any business is to be profitable, thus, technology in the workplace has encouraged managers to invest in innovative technology such as equipment and software.
