Imagine you are walking down the street of an American city and you look around. You see them walking down the streets completely oblivious to what is going on around them. They try to cross a street without looking to see if traffic has stopped or even if they are in a crosswalk. These people even walk into nearby structures, such as walls or poles, and people. They are distracted by their small, little, handheld devices such as cell phones and tablets. Devices such as these distract nearly everyone who owns one and these tiny objects can have huge consequences. Yes, these mobile devices are convenient ways of receiving and sending information, but while people are sending or receiving the information they are more focused on what is happening on that bright little object than what they are doing at that very moment. These devices distract everyone who owns one and in today’s society, millions upon millions of people have them. With all this new technology people are more distracted by what is happening on a screen and they are not paying attention to the environment around them. People are using technology now more than ever before. This has led to the number of times that people look at their phones every day to rise.
