Technology In Fahrenheit 451

(AGG) Technology has shaped our world for generations, and started form the first car ,the TV and now the Internet and phones, they could be a good thing, but the technology has caused more damage now than helping people.(BS-1) Technology had taken Mildred’s human traits,(BS-2) Their decision making were affected because of the technology,(BS-3) and people who were away from the technology for a period of time had regained their human traits.(TS) Too much technology in people's lives could affect the person’s human traits.

(MIP-1) When there is too much technology in people's lives they can take away Mildred’s human traits. (SIP-A) In Fahrenheit 451, Mildred is so surrounded by technology all the time, she started to forget about things

“Clarisse McClellan? We've a record on her family. We’ve watched them carefully…. We had some false alarms on the McClellans, when they lived in Chicago. Never found a book. Uncle had a mixed record; antisocial. The girl? She was a time bomb.The family had been feeding her subconscious, I'm sure, from what I saw of her school record. She didn't want to know how a thing was done but why”(57). (STEWE-2) When Beatty was talking to Montag, he was also trying to make Montag understand why they do what they do. “Luckily, queer ones like her don't happen often. We know how to nip most of them in the bud, early. You can't build a house without nails and wood. if you don't want a house built, hide the nails and wood. If you don't want a man unhappy politically, don't give him two sides to a question to worry him;give him one. Better yet, give him none. Let him forget there is such thing as war”(58). This shows how the society tries to make everyone happy by making them forget about important things. Beatty also tells Montag to “Hold steady. Don't let the torment of melancholy and drear philosophy drown our world. We depend on you. I don't think you realize how important you are, we are, to our happy world as it stands now”(59).(CS) Clarisse was able to separate from the society and be herself, which gave her the human traits that everyone was missing. “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind”(Dr. Seuss).
