Technology impacts society and individual relationships by making it harder for people to communicate and have relationships by distracting people from having conversations with one another which leads to people losing relationships. This is seen in Fahrenheit 451 when Montag had finished his shift he came home to Mildred and noticed, “in her ears the little Seashells, the thimble radios tamped tight…” (Bradbury 10). The Seashells in Mildred’s ears distracted her from her husband and made it harder for Montag to talk to her which led to them becoming distant. Also, in the TED talk with Sherry Turkle, she says, “People text or do email during corporate board meetings. They text and shop and go on Facebook during classes, during presentations,

Ethan Chavez In the novel “Fahrenheit 451”, there are various different technologies that tell us more about the society that Montag lives in. In my opinion, all the technological advancements are the government's way of manipulating the citizens to do whatever they say. An example of this is the seashells that the people use in the book, and is seen used in Montag’s chase scene, where the reporter orders everyone to check outside their homes on the count of ten. Another example of the government controlling their citizens are the TV walls.
In the book Fahrenheit 451, Guy Montag is the main character. He is a fireman, and in the book firemen start fires, or more specifically burn books. The society within Fahrenheit 451 is focused on technology, and literature is banned in all forms, and soon all types will become non-existent. Since technology is the main component of their life, the citizens have lost their social skills and now barely ever communicate with one another. This leads to consequences that the citizens have to face.

Over the course of a couple hundred years, technology has advanced rapidly as corporations try to keep up with consumers hastily implementing it into their day-to-day lives. Although technology has mainly made everyday life conditions easier, it has also caused complications. More specifically, complications that involve adverse changes in people’s mental health. As a result, there have been more efforts to bring awareness to the issues occurring due to the superfluous use of technology. For instance, Ray Bradbury, an author and avid critic of technology, has written many short stories and novels with storylines that expose the possible, and present issues that occur as a result of excessive consumption of technology.
Technology is one of humanity's greatest inventions. It has affected societies’ qualities of life for the better; communication has become more accessible, knowledge has become easier to discover and much more. Technology is a blessing to our present world, or is it? In Bradbury's novel, Fahrenheit 451. The mentally destructive side of technology shows its true colours throughout the book, giving the readers a view of what our own society can become.
While technology can help save lives and provide entertainment, society should spend less time on technology because it can render society with no free thought, it prevents social interaction, and it ruins relationships all of which rather than the use of books as predicted in the novel by Bradbury. Bradbury feared and tried to warn society about a world in which more and more insistence is brought upon further developing technology, turning our society into a mundane dystopia. Building upon this, an article published by Jon Johnson further expands upon the negative effects of new technology in the article: Negative effects of technology: What to know he discusses: “A 2017 study in young adults aged 19–32 years found that people with higher social media
A Potential Future Technology is consuming the world of life, and it’s only getting worse. Despite its harshness, this is the truth that Ray Bradbury, author of the novel Fahrenheit 451, believes humanity must be alerted of. Although written long before now, his ‘exaggerated’ prediction of modern society in the novel is not far off. People, to this day, use technology to the point where it becomes as dangerous as a whirlpool, constantly wanting more. Characters Montag, Mildred, and Clarisse all experience the effects of technology, but in different ways.
In his dystopian novel, Fahrenheit 451, American author Ray Bradbury forewarns of the great threats technology poses upon humanity. Bradbury’s purpose is to exaggerate the negative effects of technology because they could soon become a reality for the dying society. In order to achieve this feat, he adopts an apprehensive tone to persuade the audience of young adults to rely less on technology, and change their course of destruction. Bradbury artistically amplifies the hazards of technology and their effects on the youth through the use of allusions and juxtaposition. Ray Bradbury establishes an immense sense of credibility within his audience by employing historical allusions and juxtaposition to validate his novel.
