I am diligently writing my research paper. My brain is fried and a den of iniquity. My iMessage goes off indicating that I have a message to read. Should I pick up my phone or should I leave it and focus on my paper? I debate internally…should I or shouldn’t I? After minutes of fighting with myself, I determine that I’m am going to pick up the phone and just read the text messages, respond and put the phone on silent. Two hours later, my cursor is blinking at me in the same spot. These are the times you realize how important technology can be. The reality is that the technological future is growing at an accelerated pace and society will proceed to apply various intelligence technologies in order to assist and expedite our everyday desires and needs. I believe technology serves a variety of followers and users ranging from apps enthusiasts to Facetime newbies. Although some advantages of technologies are not necessarily deemed as revolutionary to one but another person may signify this modern day convenience a lifesaving machine for its many abilities. Interest in technological advancement might affect non-technological users in one way or another. For example, not being able to send an email or file if a professor or business may request for that particular method of delivery. The bottom line is that technology extends the limits of human expression and interaction. According to Thompson, "The machine's way of ‘thinking’ is fundamentally inhuman"{Thompson 343}.
