Ted Bundy the Killer
One of the most famous serial killers of the 20th century is Ted Bundy. In the 1970’s Ted Bundy was a serial killer and rapist that would kidnap young women and overpower them. Ted Bundy would approach his female victims in a public place and then lead them into a private area, where he had already screened before, he would then rape and murder his victim. The estimated number of women Ted Bundy has murder is about 30 in seven states between 1974 and 1978. Ted Bundy kept 12 of his victim heads in his apartment as his trophies. Ted Bundy was convicted of multiple murders he sentenced to death. He was executed by the electric chair in 1989. (Castillo, 2013)
All of Ted Bundy victims were Caucasian women between the ages of 12 and late 20s. They would typically be girls that were in college or university and from a middle class background. Ted Bundy died in the Raiford electric chair at 7:16 a.m. on January 24, 1989; he was 42 years old. He was a High Factor 1 Psychopath that’s means he was intelligent and didn’t really show signs of being a psychopath at a young age. Ted Bundy claimed he was innocent to the very second he died.

Some of the members included Robert Keppel and Dave Reichert, who also would come in and interview Ted Bundy while he was in jail. Bundy gave plenty of insight of the minds of serial killers and suggested that Gary was most likey revisiting the dump sites to have sex with his victims, which turned out to be true later on. Gary was arrested in 1982 and 2001 on charges related to prostitution so that made him a key suspect in the Green River killings. On November 30, 2001, Gary was at work where the police came and arrested him. He was arrested on suspicion of murdering four women nearly 20 years earlier.

Theodore Bundy became one of the most well known serial killers in American history because his actions as a serial killer, rapist, kidnapper, and his enjoyment in the participation of necrophilia. Bundy captured the attention of the American people because of his charisma and flair during his escapes from police custody and during his criminal trials for murder. Theodore Bundy is thought to have killed over 20 women and eventually confessed to numerous of those murders prior to his execution in 1989.
He was known as a serial killer, rapist, and necrophiliac. Bundy admitted to killing 36 women across several states, but experts believe that the final tally of women killed may be closer to 100 or more. “Most sources say that he began his murderous rampage around 1974 (biography.com). Bundy used to lure his victims into his car by pretending to be injured and asking for help. In 1975 he was pulled over and police searched his vehicle and uncovered a cache of burglary tools.
Simpson portrays Bundy as being a very confident and merciless killer. Similarly, Dobson presents Bundy as being a cocky and relentless monster. Dobson is good at explaining the details of many of Bundy’s killings but lacks on details of his life and police encounters. On the contrary, Simpson skims over many of Bundy’s murders by only focusing on more significant murders and gives more details about Bundy’s life. However, Simpson’s writing is more focused and detailed than Dobsons thus seems a more accurate portrayal of Bundy.

The Zodiac Killer had impacted the nation with these violent killings of five or more people in the year of 1969 resulting in the ongoing investigation of his identity. The Zodiac Killer brutally murder at least five people in 1969. His first killing took place on a road just outside of Benicia December 20th, 1969.The victims were David Arthur Faraday, age 17 and Betty Lou Jensen, age 16 both stabbed to death (Everything You Want To Know About The Zodiac Killer But Were Too Afraid To Google). Six months later, near Blue Rock Springs he shined a flashlight into the vehicle of Darlene Ferrin and Michael Mageau. Darlene was shot and killed while Michael survived despite his extensive wounds.
In fact, Bundy wasn’t extremely intelligent, and was not a genius, he only had an IQ of about 124, and he was not wildly successful in school, he was an average student who actually failed out of college after being dumped by a girlfriend, though he did return to school at a later date and finish (Michaud & Aynesworth, 2000). Even so, there was something that everyone could agree upon, Theodore Bundy was a deranged sociopath who became famous for murdering all of his victims, he was one of the serial killers to become extremely famous because of his killings, and some would say that he seemed happy to be getting all of the recognition (Michaud & Aynesworth, 2000). With articles written about him titled, “Bundy: The Man, The Myth, The Legend” he had truly become a legend (Caputi, 1989). He grew up with an older sister who was actually his biological mother and his parents were in fact his grandparents. Ted went through quite a bit when he came to find out the truth about this sister-mom and parent-grandparent situation. Theodore went on to attend college at the University of Washington where he met and fell in love with the woman of his dreams, Stephanie Brooks.
Over the coming months and years, more disappearances followed. Ted's victims were generally young attractive women with dark hair parted in the middle. His modus operandi (M.O) was to approach his potential victim while simulating he had an injury or disability. (For example, by wearing an arm-sling or a cast) ask them to help him carry his books or packages. He led them to a secluded area and when they were alone he would knock them on the head with a crowbar, stuff their bodies into his car, strangle them while they were unconscious and then rape their deceased bodies.
Gary Ridgway killed most of his victims in his home, his truck, or a secluded area (Gary Leon Ridgway). Gary Ridgway preferred to kill prostitutes or young runaways, but other than that criteria he was not specific. For instance, his victims ranged from being as young as twelve all the way up to the age of thirty-one. Gary would often leave his victims nude and sometimes he would also leave their fingernails clipped. In 1982, Gary Ridgway was arrested on a prostitution charge (Gary Ridgway).

Bundy’s crimes evolved over time but he was both a sexual sadist and a necrophiliac serial killer. At the beginning of his rampage, Bundy would sneak into the victims house in the middle of the night, violently attack them while they were sleeping with a blunt object and then Bundy would usually sexually assault them.
