The article, “Teens Against Hitler”, by Lauren Tarshis describes the challenges Ben Kamm fought while fighting with the the partisans in WWII and the courage he had while doing it. Ben wanted to continue living in his apartment with his family and play with his friends every day. But, the German troops forced them into a ghetto with 400,000 other jews. So, Ben decided to join the partisans, “...they operated from bases hidden deep in the thick forests of Eastern Europe.”(8). Then, war finally ended in 1945. Ben received the news that the rest of his family had been killed. In the 1930s and 40s, a man named Hitler Took over Germany, and his goal was to kill every jewish person in Europe. He even said, “Eliminate the jews,” Hitler proclaimed, “and you will eliminate all of Germany's problems!”(6). Hitler did not like the jews, he thought it was their fault that the germans had lost WWI. So, he wanted to get rid of them. And he wanted to kill all nine million of them. …show more content…

The partisan especially had to have a lot of courage. They had to live deep in thick forest and fight against hitler and his army. Ben Kamm, one of the partisans was very brave. According to the text, it says, “Ben volunteered for dangerous missions blowing up cargo trains carrying supplies to German troops.”(10) What Ben did was very scary and hard. But he did not want to let Hitler have all the power. Ben and his group of partisan wanted to Show Hitler that they needed respect, too. Sometimes while Ben was sneaking around the forest, he would find people, jews. He wanted to save them, he thought the deserved to live through war, so according to page 10 it says, “We took them with us,” Ben said. “Old, young, children. We took them with us, and they survived war” Ben was very courageous when he did this, he did not have to help those people, but he did. He wanted to give them a chance to live, and they
