Temple Grandin Temple Grandin is an exemplar of success. In life, before one achieves success, one has to go through many challenges. In the movie, temple Grandin states that she thinks in pictures and connects the pictures together. Temple Grandin has photographic memory, she remembers all objects she has ever seen before. On this paper, I will speak about Temples’ diagnosis, personality and behavior, and how she changes for the better. DIAGNOSIS: Temple Grandin is a woman who suffers from autism. According to the diagnostic Statistical Manual, Temple was born with autism. The diagnostic criteria defines autism as “Persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction across multiple contexts, as manifested by the following, …show more content…
Temple wants to try new things that don’t have to do with socializing, she a driven by curiosity. Additionally because she was so curios, she was also very distracted. Since she has photographic memory, she does amazing calculations in her mind and she builds and puts many object together. She hates to be touched. Due to her Cellitus, she only eats Jell-O and pudding. Cellitus causes inflammation of subcutaneous connective tissue, the deep layer of skin must be well-cared of. Anything can set temple off, she will act on reasons. There were two incidents I will like to mention. While Temple was building something for a project a guy two boys came up to her and made fun of her and provoked her rage, so she punched them. What they did to her is messed up, so I say “Go Girl” but she got expelled. For me to see that they gave up on Temple so easy lets me know that they don’t have the willingness in their hearts to go through things. Whenever she will feel anxious she will spin herself in a swing to calm her nerves. Another time was when she went inside her aunt’s house to get to her room, her name was no longer on the door, and so then she felt that the place was unfamiliar. Temple began to freak out she started crying and she ran to the hugging machine. Earlier in the morning (in the movie) she had observed how the cows became relaxed after being …show more content…
She went to see a doctor to see what was wrong with her daughter and they said she had autism, infantile schizophrenia. The doctors believed that children will get autism because when the babies most needed their mother, she was not there to support them. They recommended to institutionalize temple, but the mother refused to give her baby away. She refused to believe that Temple will never speak so she worked with her constantly so that she can learn. She got bullied constantly by other children of school because they could not understand her. The teacher’s will easily give up on her and she will often need to go to new places. Temple was born intelligent, but no one ever really took the time to see her intelligence. Temple did not want to be part of school because she was constantly bullied. She however had a teacher by the name of Mr. Carlock who was her science teacher in high school. It was him persuaded her to use them and achieve success after he was able to discover the talents and skills which Temple Grandin had. One of the most important things she learned from him is that each and every time there was a new opportunity, she had to think of it as a new door opening to her welcoming her into a new future. Thanks to this wonderful encouragement to go to college, she was able to get a Ph.D. in Animal Sciences from a

She describes her teacher Mrs. Horn to have “the face of a crumpled Kleenex and a nose like a hook” (4), which reflects the distaste she feels towards this supposed “mentor” of hers. Estrella’s dreadful tone reveals how unwelcoming the school environment is for her. These poor conditions do not give the support and resources that are necessary for Estrella’s learning. Consequently, Estrella’s self-confidence drifts away as Mrs.

Then the teacher asked her to read and temple read with her eyes word for word what the page had said. This showed that Temple could use her photographic memory to learn. She could only do this because of her autism. This part in the movie reminded me of a student my mom once had. This student at the time was a first grader and had autism.
Due to the education she received she was able to start medical training in another village which no one would have thought was ever possible. Along with his belief of women's education, he also believed in the importance of education providing peace. Greg felt strongly that if people were properly educated they wouldn’t turn to violence to escape their life of poverty. Overall, one of the main themes of this novel was the significance of education in a
Do the flaws of a character remain a part of that person forever? In many aspects of literature, the characters battle an internal war in which they must recognize their flaws and become a better person. In contrast, many works of literature, such as Sir Gawain and the Green Knight show characters who are never able to accomplish this, leading many to believe that it is impossible to become a better person. People and characters are capable of redeeming themselves of their flaws, despite the fact that some do not undergo this redemption of character.

Pierre’s protagonist Vernon God Little is an agreeably significant character when it comes to the general meaning of the text, categorising the novel as of one of initiation. Vernon is in a stage of teenage-hood, where he is neither a grown up nor a boy, who begins to be confronted with the reality of life. He has a challenging family life; a mother, who is referred to as a “knife-turner,” whose presence is pointless to him due to her ignorance, and a dead father whose support Vernon is deprived of. The author presents Little in two ways: a contemporary teenager—an anti-social, childish, comic, rebellious figure with a foul mouth, who has no serious aspirations in life and an ominous future in his hometown, Martirio, suggested by “my nerves

It was scary because she never had been around them. New things can set a person with autism off because of how sensitive they are cattle are the same way in the movie a sheet hanging on the closet door freaks temple out and she has a “ moment” when cattle experience new things it sometimes can spook them. Which then makes me wonder if working with people with autism is like working with “Green Broke” show cattle. You can get a lot accomplished as long as you don’t rush it. You introduce them to new things
