In Arthur Miller 's play The Crucible, false accusations and fear are used to imprison and kill many people accused of being witches. In this way, The Crucible stands as an allegory for McCarthy 's communist hunt, during which many people were also killed and imprisoned due to accusations of communism. By comparing McCarthyism to the Salem Witch Trials, Miller is able to communicate that people should not conform to societal trends because these trends may be misleading and cause innocent people to get hurt. Many characters in The Crucible serve as allegories to McCarthy 's communist hunt, specifically Abigail Williams, Giles Corey, and Betty Parris.

Yo’s Character Analysis In the story “The Mother” from the book ¡Yo!, written by Julia Alvarez, the mother in the story disciplines her children in ways most people would consider abuse. Through all of the trauma, this chapter shows that Yo is confident, unique, and intelligent. In the beginning of the story, the mother explains how Yo enjoyed the company of the maids in the Dominican Republic: “She seemed to like to hang around them more than she did her own kin, so that if she had been darker, I would have thought she was a changeling that got switched with my own flesh and blood” (PN). This quote shows that Yo is different than most children.

Rosie the Riveter is a widely recognized, iconic symbol of rebellion. Originating as a 1940’s propagandic symbol to encourage women everywhere to band together and keep strong using her famous phrase, ‘We can do it!’ , Rosie has grown to become a symbol of feminism and impacted the USA’s views and beliefs ultimately very positively. This pattern is present everywhere. Additional examples include Antigone, written by Socrates in classical Greece, The Hunger Games, written by modern author Suzanne Collins, and the nonfiction example of the women’s rights movement in early 1900’s USA.

I think that Malala Yousafzai is the most inspiring because she was strong and stood up for women’s education. The text states that there were many threats toward her. The text also states that Malala got shot in the head. This shows that she was risking her life for women 's rights, even though she could’ve lost her life. Malala was tough enough to stand up for women’s education, even though people were threatening

Throughout the modern world, women fight to gain equality in all settings of life. Maxine Hong Kingston, in an effort to portray this struggle through a series of carefully interwoven stories, blurs the line between both fictional and nonfictional struggles in The Woman Warrior: Memoirs of a Girlhood Among Ghosts. Kingston’s use of declarative sentences, active voice, and effective variation of speech successfully manages to continuously engage the reader in The Woman Warrior: Memoirs of a Girlhood Among Ghosts, while adding a personal touch throughout the story.

For example, when Betty White played Elizabeth on the show Life with Elizabeth, Elizabeth was portrayed as an independent woman that was pleased with her appearance and her abilities. Elizabeth helped reveal issues that came up in life and marriage and how those issues could be handled. The characteristics that Elizabeth possessed can be found in Betty White as well. For Alyssa Milano the show Charmed was a major part of her life and she invested a lot of time making Phoebe be a beloved character. Alyssa Milano’s humor and spice were portrayed in the character Phoebe.

Throughout the film we see how bold and courageous Skeeter is. Despite the strict rules the town of Jackson has with coloreds and whites, this doesn’t stop Skeeter from doing what she believes in. Skeeter’s determination and bravery is what stood out the most. Skeeter has a passion for creating a book that will represent the struggles and the everyday lives that maids deal with. She knows how dangerous creating this book will be but she also understands that she can possibly be the gateway to the future of these

Flannery O’Conner as well mentions Mrs. Freeman, mother of Carramae and Gylnese and Mrs. Hopewell hulga’s mother. Both characters have a major impact towards Hulga’s life. Mrs. Freeman, as described by O’Conner is seen more of a realist who speaks and thinks freely. She is a very passionate woman and “had a special fondness for the details of secret infections hidden deformities, assaults upon children”, which in this case applies to hulgas state of appearance, her deformity the artificial leg. The book I will be getting my information about my characters is called The Crucible by Arthur Miller. The names of the characters I will be discussing is a dedicated and self-appreciative girl by the name of Marry Warren and an out of town expert on witchcraft by the name of Rev. John Hale. Mary Warren’s role in the story is a girl who is not only somewhat loyal to the Proctor family but also as a girl who is being forced to do Abigail William’s dirty work because of fear of Abigail killing her. The role that Rev. John Hale plays, starts off as him coming in the play as an out of time Reverend to prove that the daughter of the Salem town reverend is not bewitched. Rev. John Hale’s role however soon becomes more important to the story by him

Aibileen Clark from The help is my most favorite character because I realize that Aibileen is one of the strongest women that I ever known. It is not easy for everyone to control their own emotion when they were disdained and Aibileen proved it for me. I can see that to be maid is very hard and torture but she can distinguish that Mae Mobley(A baby) is innocent, so she take care Mae Mobley very well while Mae Mobley’s mother always ignore Mae Mobley and hit her. Aibileen is brave too. She dare to share her bad experience with Skeeter for Skeeter’s book even she knew that it can do harm for her if other white people know about this
