Have you ever had your opinion on something entirely changed? What made it change? It likely could have been family and tradition. An individual’s family and traditions have the most influence on one’s perspective because it uses examples to change someone’s opinion on something. Tradition is an important factor when it comes to changing opinions. In the article“Matrimony with a Proper Stranger”, on pg.86, the author states,”But as Kumar says, the idea is more acceptable if it is part of your culture”. This shows that Kumar’s opinion is more likely to be swayed when he thinks about tradition. Her opinion was changed after she had a special moment with her family. On pg.69 it says,”The moment that brought us together-my grandparents, mom and dad, my uncle and his partner, and my great grandmother-was perhaps the most quiet moment of all (New 69).”This reveals that her opinion on Thanksgiving was changed because of the moment she shared with her family.
