Odysseus is not an admirable character, he is egotistical, injudicious, and unbelievably pretentious. Odysseus may seem to be the perfect idol to have, who would not want to worship a undeniably tenacious human being slaying many monsters and conquering any women he desires. But that is the negative, conquering women? In the Odyssey, you may find yourself applauding Odysseus for his courageous actions and being able to overcome any task, no matter how problematic and challenging it may seem. However, you may also see the unfavorable qualities Odysseus possesses.
Success reinforces heroic values because it builds one’s confidence in themselves. This is supported in The Odyssey, after Odysseus and his crew faced many trials, including one where Odysseus successfully got them out of a near death situation with the cyclops, Polyphemus, they had to face another one with Scylla and Charybdis. Before facing these two monsters, Odysseus inspired his crew by declaring, “When Cyclops penned us up in his vaulted cave... my courage, my presence of mind and tactics saved us all and we will live to remember this one day… up now, follow my orders,/ all of us work as one!” (Homer, 12. 228-231).
In the epic tale The Odyssey by Homer, we are introduced to Odysseus, King of Ithaca. Odysseus is on a journey to get back to his wife and son. Throughout his journey, he runs into many challenges that attempt to stop him from getting reaching his destination. We learn about many of his traits as we travel with him on his journey. When he finally reaches home all of his traits become clear: his strength, arrogance, wit, charm, and courage.
There are many types of hero, fictional, historical, and modern day. Odysseus was a historical hero, who saved his home of Ithaca. He had so many heroic traits, such as, bravery, courage, caring, loyalty, determination, and so much more. Fictional, modern day and other historical heroes have many of these traits as well. Therefore, the word hero has not changed.
A legend to a great many people would be somebody who has strength and has gambled or yielded his life for others. To others a man that has found or accomplished something exceptional. In antiquated Greece a legend was viewed as a man frequently of heavenly family, celebrated for his courageous achievements and favored by the divine beings. In the epic "The Odyssey" Odysseus shows every one of the characteristics of a legend, for example, his intelliegence, quality, devotion, and strength. First a critical quality that an epic legend must have is knowledge.
About the time Odysseus reached Ithaca, Polyphemus the cyclops Odysseus blinded is asking Poseidon, his father, a way to cure his blinded eye. Polyphemus asked, “Father, Poseidon, is there any way to get my eye back?” “Polyphemus, there is a way to cure your eye, but you must go through a long and harsh journey to get what you want,” Poseidon answers, “You must find a way to go to Circe’s palace and find a way to get her to help you on your quest.” “That’s all I have to do?” Polyphemus said, “Thank you, Father.”
Written in the late 8th century by Homer, Odysseus, the pinnacle of epic heroes in Greek literature, has become literature’s piece of clay and has been molded and adapted to what we find relevant in our society, who has also withstood the test of time. In The Odyssey, Homer’s protagonist Odysseus recounts his adventures getting back from the Trojan War and trying to get back home to Ithaca. Much like Odysseus, a hero modeled after Odysseus in modern culture is J.K. Rowling’s own Harry Potter. In the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry finds himself in J.K. Rowling’s equivalent of Odysseus’s situations. Odysseus.

Odysseus is admirable because he is intelligent, he is a leader, and he is very brave.
In a lot of fiction stories, there is a heroic character. Odysseus for example, is a heroic character. He exhibits those qualities because of the god he is. Odysseus world was harsh. A world familiar with violence.
In part one of Homer’s Odyssey, Odysseus uses his epic hero qualities to help him out on his quest to get back home to Ithaca. He’s shows superb intelligence when fighting the cyclopes in “Book 9.” That’s a quality of superhuman intelligence that Odysseus possessed all throughout his entire journey. Another epic hero quality that helped Odysseus was help from Greek gods and goddesses. In part two of Homer’s Odyssey, Athena helped out Odysseus when he got back to his home land.
A hero is someone who is revered for his or her exceptional achievements and bravery. Anyone who puts themselves before others not for recognition or an award, but because it is the right thing to do, is a true hero. In "The Odyssey," written by Homer is an epic poem about a man named Odysseus and his crewmates competing against the power of the gods to return to their homeland, Ithaca. Both son and father want to reclaim their house from the suitors who wish to marry Penelope, Odysseus’ wife. Genghis Khan, Choi Yuna, my brother, An Thai, and Odysseus have traits like strength, thoughtfulness, and attractiveness. People need heroes with these traits because they need role models and someone to guide them through life.
In Homer’s The Odyssey, Odysseus repeatedly shows that he is polytropos, for as Zeus says “There is no mortal half so wise”(3). Using his wits, Odysseus gets him and his men out of several sticky situations in the Odyssey, proving his leadership through his actions that save the lives of his crew member. On the other hand Odysseus’ streak of constantly outsmarting challenges, goes to his head, and unfortunately causes Odysseus to develop a hubris. His pride at times makes him arrogant, believing that he always knows best, which leads to the untimely demise of his crew. While Odysseus proves to be good leader by saving his crew from trouble with his wits, he is ultimately a bad leader because he refuses to listen to advice.
In the book The Odyssey, the main character, Odysseus, is a man who is loved and respected by many. In the beginning of the book, we learn that Odysseus has left on a journey and, since it has been many years since his departure, many people assume that he has passed. On his journey, he portrays his many traits, not all of them being good ones either. Some of his good traits include his cunning, bravery, and hard work ethic.
