ABOUT ENERGY
Energy is a necessity, it is used for transportation, electricity, food production, entertainment, heating and cooling. However, energy that is being used nowadays is extremely harmful to the environment. Sources of energy that pollute the environment the most are coal, natural gas and oil; they produce the vast majority of global warming emissions and pollute the air and water.
There are however other forms of energy that do not negatively impact the environment which are called renewable energy sources. They include Solar Power, Biofuels, Geothermal Power, Hydro Power, Nuclear Energy (Uranium), Wind Energy, etc. Though some of the mentioned forms of energy are expensive, they work to increase environmental protection as well …show more content…

The most advantageous benefit of renewable energy is that it is renewable and therefore sustainable which means it will never run out. Renewable energy facilities require less maintenance that generators that use non renewable energy. Renewable energy produced close to no waste products such as carbon dioxide or other chemical pollutants therefore, it does not have a very large impact on the environment.
Though there are several advantages of using renewable energy, at the same time there are some disadvantages. It is difficult to generate the amount of electricity that meets the amount supplied by traditional fossil fuel generators. This could mean that we need to use less energy so that we are able to sustain the amount we are supplied with. Another limitation is that it often relies on a certain natural source for power such as weather. Hydroelectricity needs water, Solar power needs sunlight, thermal energy needs heat, wind energy needs wind that is blowing at a certain pace and if the required component isn’t available, it is not possible to use that form of energy therefore, certainty decreases. Often, these forms of energy are also quite expensive which may not be desirable for the government or …show more content…

The energy source that I think would be most suitable for the island I have inherited is Solar Energy. Solar energy uses sunlight which is a renewable energy source that can be converted into usable energy by solar panels. It doesn’t have a negative impact on the environment.

Solar energy is a clean and renewable energy source. Once a solar panel is installed, solar energy can be produced free of charge. Solar energy can last for very long periods of time if the solar panels are maintained well. Solar energy causes no pollution. Solar cells make absolutely no noise at all therefore; it is an economical form of energy as well. Very little maintenance is needed to keep solar cells running. There are no moving parts in a solar cell which makes it impossible to really damage them. In the long term, there can be a high return on investment due to the amount of free energy a solar panel can produce, it is estimated that the average household will see 50% of their energy coming in from solar
