A discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of marriages for young people.
Historically, individuals were allowed to enter into marriage at a very young age. In Ancient Rome, the appropriate age was regarded as 14 for males and 12 for females and when Rome become Christianised the age minimums were adopted into the ecclesiastic law of the Catholic Church (Dahl, 2010). Broude (1994), stated that men and women are said to be married when they enter into a socially sanctioned relationship that is assumed by them and by their community to be permanent. Marriage takes place for economic, cultural, social and emotional reasons. In many countries, especially among poor, migrant or displaced countries, marriage at a young age is common (Ingrid, 2006). People in the age range of 15 to 24 are referred to as young. The number of people getting married at young age is increasing every day and some people believe it has some negative effects to young people, this assay seeks to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of marriage of a young person with another young person. There are a lot of advantages of marriage for young people. The greatest advantage is that the people that get married at a young age could grow old with each other.
