Stoll includes correspondence between Adams and his colleagues and uses contemporary’s personal accounts of Adams to highlight how others perceived him. Stoll’s utilization of a vast array of sources helps further develop Adams’s character. However, Stoll’s devotion to Samuel Adams is also noticeable in the sense that he glosses over some of Adams’s more distasteful actions and will sometimes go out of his way to show Adams in a positive light, writing long-winded paragraphs in his defense, a kindness not afforded to Adams’s opponents. Stoll consistently reminds the reader of the context behind Adam’s actions that by modern standards would be seen as religiously fanatic and often casts shadows of doubt on accusations of Adams’s role in violent situations. Stoll’s biography intends to not only educate about Samuel Adams’s life, but to remind the reader why we should not forget Adams.
As the president of US, Kennedy has an automatic ethos. However, due to his young age and his Roman Catholic belief, it is still crucial for him to enhance his ethos in the beginning of his presidency. Kennedy first refers to the shared roots between the audience and himself, “We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution”. The audience and the speaker are all the successors of the great funders of United States, who fought for liberty and independence. Kennedy then points out other visible shared experiences: “born in this century” represents he is with the younger generation.
This is significant because the author is describing the event of Grandfather trying to protect Mattie. Describing the event allowed the theme to be more visible to the reader because of extra details. The theme of family trying to always help each other is seen in this quote because Grandfather did not mention his well-being, and only wanted Mattie to be safe. On the other hand, if there was not as much description it would be more difficult to see why Grandfather did his actions, and what the theme is. Overall, Laurie Anderson uses two methods to show the theme: description and dialogue.
It was self-explanatory at first when determining what was needed, but initially I had issues in finding the articles due to the limited nature of the topic. What were more available were books, and with I looked at the author’s background and what validity they posed to the research being conducted. One of the biggest things I was looking for, was relevancy. It had to be relevant and fit my criteria in terms of what I needed for my research. What seemed to be the easiest part was the outline to help my assignment.
Founding brothers is enjoyable to all and will broaden the reader’s understanding with insightful historical analysis. Ellis did an impressive job at balancing the book and not showing bias towards any of the prominent figures. Although the book provides a superb representation of the forefathers in each chapter, some chapters are more effective than others. The book also tends to wander off and get too in-depth in some area so it becomes a bit wearisome. During some areas the narration fails to sustain my attention and spark my interest.

Perhaps the most famous line from the Declaration of Independence, written on July 4, 1776. 1776 by David McCullough is about just that: the year 1776, though it does mention events in previous and following years, in American history. McCullough’s purpose for writing the book is very clear: to educate readers about the details of the American Revolutionary War from the view of both sides in and around 1776. McCullough achieves this through mostly logos, but uses ethos and pathos just as well.

Throughout this historical document, there are multiple arguments made to get the authors’ point across. The authors’ effectively use logos, ethos, and pathos to contribute to the formation of the concluding argument. Logos is used because the thesis is straight to the point and it is supported throughout the entire document.
Thomas S. Kidd wrote the book “The Great Awakening A Brief History with Documents” in a format that allows its readers to study history the way historians do. The book is broken down into two parts. The first part is a detailed introduction of what happened during the The Great Awakening. The second part includes and explores 36 primary source accounts from this era. These primary source accounts range from pastors’ sermons to the spiritual experiences of slaves, Native Americans and farmers, among others.
The book, The Ugly American, is a great example of U.S. representatives exerting influence while working abroad. Special Operations Forces (SOF) also hold the same power of influence when deployed. Many of the characters portray SOF imperatives, either positively and/or negatively. This paper examines the three character vignettes of Coronel Hillandale, Father Finian, and Major Monet and my personal experiences to show how the SOF imperatives apply in today’s environment. Wright struggles with not developing prejudice attitudes towards those who are not as knowledgeable as he may be. Throughout his life he must realize the religious prejudice and overcome it within himself and within his family. As he struggled throughout his life he was able to gain an understanding of nature’s society’s that were around him. Wright develops of sense of who he is and what he is as a writer. The character in the story creates a sense of survival and struggle in the world he calls home, but while dealing with a struggle he was able to overcome but not delete or cover up what was happening around him instead he was able to understand society and its way of
