The sheep represent how he is comfortable in his life and how he is questioning his frequent dream, to sacrifice his comfortable life to find this treasure or to continue without taking the risk. “Here I am between my flock and my treasure, the boy thought. He had to choose between something he had become accustomed to and something he wanted to have.” (30) Santiago must realize that it is he that is holding him back and to take the risk. Once Santiago found out about the term personal legend he will take the risk. “There was nothing to hold him back except himself.
The decision was difficult as both options don’t provide him a steady choice. As being a shepherd does not promise him to be with the merchant daughter and for finding a treasure he need to give up his well settled life. But at the end he chose to find treasure as it allows him to purse his personal legend or dram of travelling throughout the world. He always considers his choice before taking a decision this can be seen through this conversation of Santiago with himself, “Here, I am between my flock and my treasure, the boy thought. He had to choose between something he had become accustomed to and something he wanted to have.
Even their sons forget about them. However, even though he seems tired and sleepy, he has hope and wants to live. The composition shows a lonely, peaceful peace with ambient light in order to demonstrate that there are good and bad moments in life but we always have to fight for our dreams and work hard to have a better life. I chose this work of art because I like the formal elements as well as the use of colors and shades. Also, I chose this work because it illustrates the importance of having a family.
Their courageous win in the trojan war and their help for Odysseus in critical situations is downgraded to a herd of sheep gathering to their Shepard . They are not acknowledged for all their accomplishments however they are replaced with comparisons to a sheep. Conversely, Odysseus views himself as the center of his crew and the basis of his team. He trusts that his advice and his activities convey the group alone and is exclusively in charge of their prosperity . He supposes that they are can not work without him, since he is the person who salvages them when they are in threat and the saint who tidies up after their error.
Santiago knew he wanted to follow his dreams; it was helpful when he learned that “When you want something, all the universe conspires to help you achieve it” because he knew he was now destined to complete his goal, and not somebody else’s (Coelho 64). Because of the alchemist telling him this, he knows his Personal Legend and continues to work for it. Out of the many challenges people face in life, some still just give up instead of persevering. The Alchemist, however, shows that people should never give up, but instead fight through bad situations to complete their goals. Others may think we are just suffering when we persevere, but “no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity” (Coelho 134).
Candy is willing to provide for the good of the group, which allows Lennie to take care of the rabbits, while giving George his own place to work and settle in. Having Candy along gives George the companion he needed, providing a balance within the three. Despite George and Lennie being involved in a very positive relationship, the two of them on their own create a very toxic relationship. George is often repressed by Lennie without Lennie being aware of what he’s really doing. George is basically Lennie’s caregiver because he is constantly reminding him what was said, and what to do in trouble, so Lennie has an advantage in the relationship over George.
Both of them were able to see the world with new eyes and that change is good. “..I know the things I should be able to accomplish, and I don’t want to do so.” They know what they are capable of doing but choose not to do it because they don’t want to deal with all the work they need to put into it. As with Santiago he has enough money to go back home but chooses to not give up and continue his journey despite having to sell his sheep and getting robbed. The “death” Santiago had to experience was when the alchemist had told him that if he cannot turn himself into the wind he will be killed. A “rebirth” was when he came back from turning himself into the wind.
However, when Siddhartha did accept his new life, his mind suddenly becomes empty of negative thoughts. Siddhartha then realize that there is no time, and that life is just one big day. Siddhartha instantly becomes enlightened, and at peace. Accepting change will not only bring peace towards one’s mind, but also wisdom and enlightenment. Many people struggle with forgetting their memories because it represents lessons and values that they learn from it.
Other than maintaining manners and being considerate toward others, another element of being an irrepressible person living under wildly unfair conditions is having hope for the future and belief in a higher power than oneself. Ivan Denisovich has both of these. In a conversation with the bishop, Alyosha, he claims to “believe in God” (163). At the end of his day, before he goes asleep, he prays to God, thanking him for not spending the night in the prison cells (160). While his daily routine is designed to make him pessimistic and dispirited, Ivan Denisovich finds a way to think positively and remain heartened.
I did missed dozens. Some time I even got distracted and forgot to go to church, but I always try to make it up. But in my opinion, it’s not just praying, there are many way of worshiping god, hard work, studying is also a way to give respect to him. In the end, Jimmy believed that he did balanced himself between his Religious activities and his studies in a way that is healthy for him. It is clear for him that it played a great role in his life as it did contribute to his study at least on a psychological

On his trip he meets various people who care for him. Often times, these people that Chris builds relationships with, will recommend that he do something before he heads into the wild. However, Chris’ arrogance caused him to leave behind his new friends with ease in order to reach his intended goal. Chris’ dad Walt understands that Chris is a knowledgeable young man, but Chris would always refuse to listen: “Chris was good at almost everything he
